Title: I've never been one for Furries
Post by: TheouAegis on February 23, 2013, 09:34:32 PM
I've been watching Sonic SatAM these last few days. And, well...

If she were drawn like she is there, I'd be right with ya.

But as it stands, the art in SatAM makes me sick. :x

She was sometimes pretty hot in the comics, though.

Well, eons ago, there was a falling out at another one of the CV websites: The Inverted Castlevania Dungeon. Something happened between the owners of that website and the guys running the ICVD forum. One thing led to another and ICVD disowned the original forums and started another one, The Clockwork Mansion. (This may be a little inaccurate since it was so long ago, but this is what I remember from it.) It had somewhat of a presence in the CV community, but it was a really small community.

Then somehow that forum joined with the community for this furry webcomic, and now the board is primarily furry stuff. It may actually be a larger community than ours, so I guess there's a victory there.

It's not a larger community when you take out DMFA.

That somehow is the creator of the fur-fuelled webcomic that fans masturbate to used to be the site/board owner's girlfriend a looooong time ago, whose site I think was originally hosted at inverteddungeon.com (a.k.a. Fake ICVD). So her fans took over the board since there was no other content.

I also kinda have a thing for furies. But not the lolicon way. Those kids are just way too young. I'd much prefer something more adolescent and strong-looking, like Rachael Saleigh from the webcomic Las Lindas.

Yeah, I've long had a sneaking suspicion one of the reasons much of the Sonic fandom hates SatAM and its characters so much is that Sonic himself was reduced to being the least interesting character in the cast lol.
I liked Rescue Rangers as a kid but haven't seen it in years. Don't think I could enjoy it as much now knowing how weird, even by furry standards, the fandom for the show is. Imagine a bunch of self-hating conservative Christian furries, most of whom do a poor job of pretending they hate the porn while eating it up and you've basically got the RR fandom. Not to mention the infamous Gadget lover Ray Jones, but that guy is a whole story unto himself.

But wait do furries have to be well furry? what if it was half human cat like a laguz does that fall under the category or a dragon?

Lizard/dragon furries are called "scalies".

Hau auu~

I'm not a furry or anything, I just think certain furfemales are pretty cute. Guess it all started with Babs Bunny when I was a kid and upgraded to Lola near puberty.

The rest of it's just a glorious trainwreck, the kindsa things the Internet has for viewing. For the giggles.

Which is the only reason this thread exists: for the giggles. Real furries are frightening.
Title: Re: I've never been one for Furries
Post by: Ratty on February 25, 2013, 03:43:49 PM
Real furries are frightening.

Ehhh that's too general a statement. Not all furries are frightening or annoying, it's just that 99% of the people you know are furries are the kind of oddballs who like to broadcast their fetish to total strangers without any provocation. Just like with most fetishists I think the majority of furries keep it quietly and politely to themselves outside of fandom circles. So when someone just tells you they're a furry for no reason, they have a disproportionately large likelihood of being someone who has no idea how or why one's fetishes are not typically fodder for casual discussion with random people.

Of course, some of this confusion is born of the fact that the furry fandom grew out of more general fandom for anthropomorphic animals as an artistic device. But really it exploded as a fetish and that's where most of the population of the fandom comes in, despite how much some would like to deny this.

If they're transformed into their wolf-person form, then yeah werewolf art can be considered furry. Although "transformation" is a small often creepy fetish unto itself.
This is a lot like the "adult baby" fetish that Slayer was talking about. An even smaller niche fetish that latches onto the larger furryfandom because many many people active in said fandom are so desperate for approval of their own fetish** they'll accept anyone/thing. Which in the case of adult babies leads to oft-disturbing and unsanitary "diaper fur" subgroup.

**A lot of people in the furry fandom have a persecution complex. To the point that the term "fursecution" was created to describe this, I shit you not. Usually these days the term is used in a derisive way by furries to make fun of other furries who are whining about people not liking the fandom, so even furries have a small self-regulating outlier.

Where do Bronies fall? I mean, there's some greeeeaaat MLP smut and horses have fur. They call it hair, sure, but it's still fur.

And anyone else kinda get mad at Sally when she tells Sonic she's not his girl or pretends she's not interested in him? She fucking makes out with him in one episode and then in the next episode she's all like, "Pssht, nigga please." She's such a total slut and I sometimes think she really needs to get roboticized.

Maybe I'll start season 2 tonight... The end of Season 1 was kinda sad. Poor Tails.  :'(

Um wow no comment for the bulk of that. In fact *gets out ten foot pole and measures length against most of that comment, takes another few steps back* I'll just say that the divide between MLP haters and MLP fans isn't much if at all less sharp between furries than it is in other communities. Though the furfandom probably has a larger proportion of bronies than most. As for whether the MLP characters qualify as "furry" or not it depends on who you ask unless they've been given more humanized forms. I think the general consensus though is that the canon character designs are not anthropomorphic enough to qualify as really furry. Here's a handy chart I stumbled on looking for the other chart below:

(https://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com%2F-Rwe0RkZTRaE%2FT9Phytpj5FI%2FAAAAAAAACKY%2FnjRgUji8weY%2Fs1600%2F25380%2B-%2Bapplejack%2Bchart%2Bfurry%2Bmeme%2Bmeta%2Btroll_thread.PNG&hash=b91dc380179473d120122869db325435)

I'll admit-I'm a little unnerved by furries, but that stems from having seemingly only met the dregs of their society. You know, that ones Ratty was just explaining-they have no qualms whatsoever bringing up their...provocative tastes at the drop of a hat. Hell, they've actually been pretty aggressive about it. I've never met a classy, discreet furry to date; I have no doubts on their existence though & I'm sure we'd get along swimmingly because, ya know, I assume they have some common sense & decency.

Oh I'm sure you've met people who are furries and they just haven't told you. I believe most people don't realize how big the kink is because most furries have the good sense to not just bring it up at every opportunity. Just the ones with a bad persecution complex etc.

And now for something completely different-

Speaking of Bunnie, when did she lose her arm and legs? In the time travel episode, they saved her, I thought, and prevented Rosie from getting roboticized too. But then in the next episode Bunnie is still a cyborg and you don't even hear from Rosie.

And what the fuck is with the dragons? Totally badass, can take out an entire robo army by themselves, but get captured easily by Robotnik.

Rosie was a character who was just added to keep the ending of that 2-parter from being all bottom. She had a few more appearances in the comics, but her purpose in the show was just to appear at the end to demonstrate that the trip to the past hadn't been entirely futile. As for Bunnie maybe that's just the nature of time paradoxes. But it's entirely possible she was caught later and partially roboticized, a story-boarded but unanimated alternate sequence for the opening credits showed this.

The dragons were just kind of a bad idea imo. Dulcy served mostly as a talking transportation device.

Haha! This topic really surprised me! It was very fun to read! I entered because from the title I couldn't figure out what was it about.

Glad you enjoyed it. I was going to post a crossover pic for your thread of a furry in Poison cosplay, but then the source only allows those with furaffinity accounts to view their profile.

You could simply host the image in another place and put a link to his profile, but okay. :P
