* Another option could be to require a minimum of time registered and amount of posts to vote. I'm not pointing fingers to anyone, please don't misunderstand me. But duplicate accounts of people who disagreed with me were a problem in the past for me.
Reverse psychology obviously works.
Oh yeah, I'm totally the asshole here.

Oh yeah, I'm totally the asshole here.Hey now, I never said that. You seem to have no intention of removing the system despite some complaints, (and you did add it, when nobody ever asked for it, that I know) So I just took that to mean you like this kind of respect/voting thing. I mean, most places seem to do it nowadays.

By talking like this, you are no different from someone who's complaining about getting downvoted. Get over it people, it's just a future, it doesn't say anywhere to use it or else you'll get some penalty or that if you get downvoted a few times you'll get banned from the forums. As I said 2 times before, it's not the points, it's the attitude.
As I said 2 times before, it's not the points, it's the attitude.
Getting downvoted by duplicate accounts is exactly trolling, and I behaved pretty peaceful and reasonable about this, I'm not insulting anyone. I was just annoyed for what the action represents, not for the points.
I already said I wouldn't even care if the system goes out. But I am sensible about that kind of actions, it makes me feel sad, because I try to be good to everyone.
I wasn't referring to you. No need to get upset.I wasn't upset. At all. And less of everything, upset to you, who are always so nice to me.
It should be just a way to show that you like a comment, not a way to show that you like or dislike a user.I use it to like comments, not users. I don't randomly upvote posts just because I like the users.
It would be a lot better if the respect points were only awarded to the post and not accumulated by the user. It should work just like a Facebook like. This would eliminate the sense of hierarchy that is established by the current system, and people would stop caring so much about it.
It should be just a way to show that you like a comment, not a way to show that you like or dislike a user.

Bloodreign's job consists of chasing kids with a stick, yelling at them to get off his lawn. Even if he's on someone else's lawn.
Ha ha, no. :pOh, haha! It was too good to be true!
"Graveyard" as in graveyard shift, the very early morning hours when most people are asleep. Also known as overnights.
Oh, haha! It was too good to be true!
I'm a little weird, but sometimes I like to visit ancient graveyards in my country when I go to the cities, and look at the beautiful art in tombs and graves from 19th century and older, and the walls full of plants and all that.
I also love to visit ancient churchs, and everything in that spirit, you get the point.
I love visiting graveyards for the same reasons, plus they make me feel so calm....Me too. I feel like I'm in another era. The same when I'm in cathedrals and old churches.
I don't think anybody has actually thumbed anybody up or down ever since Jorge-sensei retconned seeing how much respect you have.I did. I always +1 a lot of posts. I am Crisis' successor and until he comes back I will fulfill the duty he trusted me with.
(inb4 everyone thumbs me down ;-;)
Yes, thats because its not cool like before. Before that retcon I +1 someone because I really knew that this would change something for the said person (obviously I only +1 someone if I agree with him/ likes his post).Yes, it doesn't feel so big a good action as it felt, but I still do it.
Now its more like a Facebook 2.0, where you will only notice one time that this person received these poitns and forget days later. Thats what I really think, I dont have said it before but since you mentioned it I decided to send my feedback.
It sounds to me like some of you actually thought your total respect points counted for something. If you think it was a legitimate counter of how respectable you are, then you are mistaken.Oh no, with all respect, your are mistaking who I am. I've been reading here for years and then decided to register without that in mind, now the points are gone and here I am, doing everything as always, writing every day.
Being on the forum to discuss great CV games is what should keep you coming back and having fun, not some superfluous point system that caused more problems than did any good.
You're crying because the doctor unprescribed your placebo pills. No, in any case it would be Fontaine and my plasmids.
See?You say that because you won the game, I will give you the fairy powder curse! PUN PUN! >:(
You can't please people. :P
"...then the battle will last for eternity!"
Yeah, Upvoting is totally nerfed now. But now no more whining about respect points going down, etc.
You're all a bunch of wankers. :P :P :P :P :P

If this were a decade ago, the experience there would be far different....and far more unpleasant, mwahahahahahahahahaha. ;D

I'm glad I'm here now and not then.
I think Mr. P is still rocking that style. Of course, Adblock probably prevents it from playing 8)
I never really liked GeoCities CV websites. Not for the websites themselves but because GeoCities itself was really buggy and made going through those websites a pain. It's a little better now but back then it was retarded.
I still drop in on that webpage from time to time as it has some things that other CV sites don't :)
There's a reason the nickname "GeoShitties" rings so well. What do you mean better now though? Last I heard a few years ago Yahoo shut down geocities entirely so that now such pages only exist in archives.
Like the new system better. ;)I don't get butthurt. I am all respect and I ask the same thing from the other party.
Only thing I would change is the ability to see who upvoted or downvoted you which I have been opposed to from the get go.
People will still call people out over the "downvoting" even though it does not reflect in their point system anymore.
But other than that, a step in the right direction at curbing some of the people who get butthurt over this kind of thing. :P
I don't really get why a downvote should require an explanation if an upvote is okey-dokey. One could say, "Well, the upvote should require an explanation because otherwise it just looks like brown-nosing."
And what would prevent a troll from putting "because" as the reason for downvoting? Or simply putting in a single key. Would we then need a mod to look over and approve all downvotes before allowing them to go through?
Creating a duplicate account to downvote many posts twice, even old posts, to me it sounds like an asshole and a troll.
If you don't understand what I'm talking about please refer to the first message on this thread.
A positive vote doesn't require an explanation, it's a virtual way of saying "I agree". But a negative vote requires it.
Negative voting without explaining is just trolling,
No your the one not understanding me.Yes, because there's this user I can't name because it's against the rules, who just used to downvote everything I said in a page, even if it was a trivial message like "Cool!", or just go 40 pages back in my messages log to downvote 10 or 20 messages.
Where in my post did I say that creating a duplicate account and downvoting older posts do not make them a asshole?
I only said that giving a downvote in general to someone does not automatically make someone a asshole or a troll.
They could simply just disagree with that post.
In your post below you said that a downvote warrants a explanation otherwise they are just trolling and or a asshole.
I pointed out that is not the case.
I pointed out that is not the case.Let me rephrase, I understand I wasn't clear in my explanation of what I think:
snip
Seriously guys, grow some thicker skin. No matter what I implement, someone will complain, complain, complain.
No explanation should be needed for +'s or -'s.Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about you, the forum or the other mods, nor am I complaining about dungeonites in general.
It is understood that it means "I am promoting this post" or "I do not promote this post".
It's obvious that it means that the post is agreeable/disagreeable.
Seriously guys, grow some thicker skin. No matter what I implement, someone will complain, complain, complain.
Right now it's like Upvotes/Downvotes on Youtube. That's it.
Can we please let this go? I don't want to keep walking in circles around this one bad episode when there are so many good things around the Dungeon.
You'll have to redeem your self first.(click to show/hide)
I didn't think my attempt to show Ashvarus or whatever his name that respect points mean nothing would amount to all of this.It isn't because of you, I didn't even know who downvoted Ahasverus. I just corrected it.
Yes yes I am the culprit.
Also, MY NAME IS KUPO LOL
It was because some user created a duplicate account to downvote me twice in a lot of posts.
some unpopular girl with divorced parents and low self-esteem.

Another reason why that respect system was dumb. Turns it into a schoolyard playground.
Or one of those teen magazines you see in grocery stores.
"I disagree with the premise of this system. To show how much I disagree and prove my point, I will degrade myself to a lowly troll to show people. Yeah, that'll really show how my point of view is the right thing.
I am an hero."
Yeah you sure showed people a thing or two. Like how acting like a slimy troll yields results...
...except no. Nevermind that no one here even mentioned you until just recently. Your efforts were meaningless, and only when someone else mentioned it about their plight on its own thread, and about someone else entirely, was something done. And the system is still in place, just slightly different.
But I suppose if I had nothing better to do with my time, I probably would squander it constantly clicking the "-" button 'for the lulz'.
Thankfully, most people do have better things to do with their time. Congrats on showing us what you do with yours. ;)
Having said that, I do agree that the respect system is superfluous, and not to be taken too seriously. I have conveyed this countless times.
It is now even more superfluous, as the numbers are not actually shown. Nice and nerfed. :P

He's talking about Kupomogli, who was an old member here and briefly jorge's archnemesis.
He hated everything about Nintendo and often got into fights with others.
He hated everything about Nintendo...So what happens when we bring up the fact that Castlevania started on the NES?
I was all "hey gurl...see that? that's right, 8+ upvotes. awwww yeeeaaah!"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!
Well I can't vouch for your popularity in your close-minded hometown but outside of it I imagine it would be pretty high. Divorce is pretty common these days, I'm sorry your parents broke up but I'm sure they both still love you very much. Sometimes people just grow apart or have differences they can't resolve, it's not always anyone's fault. Also, most importantly, you're a woman now. Not the girl you were in school. And as a woman, one who from all we've seen is a kind and beautiful one, you need to not let others define you. Either in their words and actions now or from years ago, you are your own person.I could find "company" on my travels, so in a way, maybe you're right... I've just been so many years believing I was what they told me :( and I miss so much how life used to be when my parents were together and we had dinners as a family, travelled together and everything...
