Post by: Aridale on February 25, 2016, 07:02:19 PM
Sunday I started workin on a project Ive tossed around a few times in the last couple years. I just figured Id post here to show it a little bit and see what ppl think. I know its not Castlevania but its still a fan game =D

Thats about it so far! I have movement/jumping/attacking and doors working. The starting town is entirely mapped all but the interiors and Im about to start on that tileset right now

Its not Castlevania but I think its very similar to it! :D
You're using Game Maker? You use tiles or import a pre-made map in the game, after doing one? What about these old but gold TV-like borders and scanlines, you added it for cosmetics or it appears in the game?

I'm happy to see that this thread is about your project, with this title I thought someone would mention that Kickstarter from last year that was C&D for obvious reasons.

I'd love to also see an official re-imagining like Shadow of the Beast PS4

Yeah its gamemaker and Im making tilesets from the original game and then redoing em and making the maps in the editor. The effects are in the game not just for show for the pics. Im gonna make it so they can be toggled for ppl that may not want it. Theres also a handful of other pixel level effects besides the scanlines that make it look interesting too. I can post a few pics later of the different options if anyone wants to see. Right now its hardcoded for the scanline effect tho for the oldschool tv look

Interesting retake on an all time classic of mine.  I'll keep an eye on this!
