They are like the 2d classic CVs, only in 3d and without fun. And without the unique CV-feeling. And with stupid characters, like Malus. And stupid levels, like the tower of science. As well as stupid enemies, like skeletons on bikes. Also the gameplay mechanics and your control over your character and everything is not very precise. There are moments where you can't see where you are supposed to jump to. And then the thing with the sun/moon doors...
There are so many reasons.

you can move the camera around with the controller.

i agree about the doors though, that was unneeded.

Oh sweeeeeeeeeet.  I absolutely LOVE LoD, it has such atmosphere and an amazing castle to boot!  I'm downloading this texture pack like, NOW. :O  I'm simply amazed at the amount of effort he put into this thing.

It's too bad some of the textures look a little blotchy and not as crisp as some of the others, but still!  Kudos to the man who made this possible for us CV fans.

UPDATE:

Apparently it's the use of the RICE VIDEO plugin that comes with this pack that allows for HI-Texture compatability. So it seems you can do this just fine with other 64 emulators.

It's a good thing because many other emulators are more stable than "1964."

While I did work real hard to get it working in "1964," I may switch it over to Project 64, because I've gotten most games working superb with that.

So maybe you don't have anything to worry about, Docta!

LoD is one of my favorites, as well as Castlevania 64. They're so awesome! I was overjoyed when I finally kill Dracula Ultimate in LoD hard mode! It took me forever, though it's kind of funny how the first boss is so much harder than the last! Damn serpent killed me in 1 or 2 hits! Crazy boss fight, yet so awesome! :)

Damn...that dude is my hero  8) Now I have another reason to play LOD again xD

just some area's seem completly diffirent and not neccesarily better in my opinion:

This is also not among my likes about it:

and completly changing the color scheme here doesn't do it any good either I'm sorry to say  :(

Yeah -- LOL. Some of those're... wtf is going on?

But like I said before, you counter any of his artistic freedom by dumping and editing the ones you don't like yourself.

There's just as many amazing outcomes of his work contained in this project, though.

Also, it IS 98%, so he might change some of those before final release.

The Necronomicon is too cute now, especially. It's supposed to be a book of death not a children's read-aloud.  ::)

I don't really have plugin capability other than the audio plugin that comes with SixtyForce. That, and the Rice Video setup file is a .exe, which seals the deal. (I'm on a Mac)  :P

do you know if he fixed the crappy camera angles?

You can move the Camera with the right-analog in the emu.
This existed in the original N64 one (only you had to do it with the D-pad so it was awkward).
Thus, 'crappy camera angles' are minimized.

You must have it confused with Castlevania64.  Either that or you're being an ass.  I'll pretend it's the former.

Lol, NOBODY ever even tries the D-Pad in N64 games anymore... it did always seem useless, but I figured it out.
