That's the problem. Either people read one word of what I type and assume entire paragraphs, or read nothing at all. If you allow me the benefit of doubt and let me explain myself:
I said it was
loose, not that it was
bad. My opinion on if it's good or bad has YET to be voiced. And I'm not really inclined to voice it at all in here, considering what's happening. I was dying to write a Dungeon review with pictures and jokes, but as soon as the first person said they didn't liked it, all hell broke loose.
What you have seen me do here (in regards to """"debating"""" people, the reaction you mentioned) is just because people liking the animation are outright stating inaccuracies to make people with dissenting opinions look silly. This is unfair to them. People can't express their dissenting opinion without someone trying to "debunk" them, it's ridiculous. That time I flew at Sumez's throat was specifically because I couldn't take it anymore to watch someone say it's loose and someone feel the UNCONTROLLABLE NEED to correct them with a meme (wrongly, because
it is loose). The person reads me say "loose" and understands "I HATE IT WITH A PASSION!" Reading comprehension is dead.
These people are expected to "get debunked" and shut the fuck up to "not disturb the environment". Why is praise allowed but dissent frowned upon?
Nagumo made her point and moved on.
Uzo made his point and moved on. Then Calvo, not standing to read dissent,
decided he had to "debunk" Uzo and low-key imply that those with dissenting opinions were
just doing it out of stubborness. TheTextGuy says he finds it loose and moves on, then Sumez steps in
trying to debunk his shit and make his opinion look like reductionist bullshit. Not even
Dracula9 (who wrote in FAVOR of the series) or
Aensland escaped Sumez's
attempt at a debunking.
It's always like this. Go back and read the responses, you will see with your own eyes I'm not lying. Person A expresses dissent and moves on > Person B feels the need to upstage their opinion by poking them for unexplained reasons > Person A gets angry, because nobody feels nice being made to look like an idiot > Person B starts crying when those painted as silly or dumb by his comment get angry. C'mon man, people with dissent can be made unconfortable all day long, but as soon as the praise is made unconfortable, THEN it's wrong? It's OK to make the forum hostile as long as it's hostile to those who dislike the product?
Notice that in every single case, the person not once tried making someone's praise look silly, speaking only of their own minds. They made their point and TRIED moving on until Person B felt he was somehow entitled to debunk other people's
opinions. This is why I got pissed and started firing.
And, back to me: What I said was expressely that this is a loose adaptation. This entire "debate" was not my opinion on the series. I could be
that guy and compare the animation with the original plot and tell you exactly where the contradictions are. But, beyond the fact that I'm not interested in starting another shitstorm and looking like an idiot trying to win fake internet points, that's not the point, y'know? It's a loose adaptation, and as I said before, "loose" doesn't mean "bad". The word "adaptation" itself already implies that it's meant to be a new idea. I'm not dumb. The adaptation should stand or fall by its own merits, and for some people it falls.
That's not to say comparing it with the source material is wrong. The thing has a brand name in it and expects you to be familiar with it -- so when it tries being
too different and plays too much with people's expectations, some people are bound to complain. But I, personally, could criticize the entire material by itself without once appealing to the original game.
