Can't wait to see how people take this horribly and explain how this proves the show will be terrible.
I was making an effort to avoid commenting further on anything regarding this series. But I will not shut up just to avoid conflict.
This track ISN'T half-bad. I dig it, since I love this kinda music that evokes conflict and has a lot of strings and shit. Also, knowing who the artist is, I have some hopes of the entire track sounding good. But two things:
1. If you don't tell me this is Castlevania, I'd probably guess Iron Fist. Or Game of Thrones. Or literally anything else on Netflix.
2. Castlevania is known for its memorable tracks (even LoS has some of those). Tell me, in all honesty: Is this memorable? This doesn't sound "Castlevania" memorable.
This series is such a fucking enormous chance to grab a new audience and possibly renew the fanbase. Music was one of the things that glued Castlevania to my mind -- shit is earworm. But this? Boy, I can't even remember the first notes and
I just listened to it.No biggie here, no biggie there... How much more are you willing to let slide before you flip your shit? Bear in mind that I'm not saying you cannot LIKE it -- you can. Anyone can like anything they want. But this is the second extremelly-generic key series-defining element that you show a distaste but ignore because reasons.
And now I
know there is more of this "generic quality stuff" coming,
specially on the writing side. Just you wait to see.
And, this is curious... Shankar said they were going for a heavy-metal-inspired soundtrack because that's where the old games took inspiration for their rhythm (and if you read some interviews with the old music guys from the Rondo era, you will know this is true). I find it weird it didn't manifest on the main title itself... Maybe they're saving the best for the main course?
