Title: Cube of Zoe
Post by: Lelygax on October 22, 2014, 09:47:47 AM
Cube of Zoe, oh my god, I dont know how only now I've discovered that its named after the daughter of a guy that localized SOTN to US.

Nice homage that almost no one will notice, but blowns my mind.

Also anyone else noticed that in the memory card screen, that image in the background is the Alucard Shield?

I've seen this trivias today in a video.

Ever notice that the "Cube of Zoe" that allows items to materialize, resembles the Puzzle Box that opens the gates to Hell from Hellraiser?

That's...interesting. Never did see the movie but from the sounds of it that cube would fit well in Castlevania.

Yeah, I remember Puwexil-chan linked me to the podcast where Blaustein talked about that. He also said Robert Belgrade was creepy.

Another fact from Blaustein: the guy who voiced James in Silent Hill 2 was originally there to have his daughter audition for the part of Laura. She was terrible. But his voice actor gave a sob story that they were on hard times and he really needed the money. They later found out he was pretty well off.

Also he said Kojima hated him for the liberties he took when localizing MGS, which was "corrected" with Twin Snakes. You just can't omit awkward hilarity like MGS2's "not nerd, node"

Nobody's seen the Hellraiser movies?  Or read the novels?  There are many. :o

Basically, that puzzle box was designed as a lock puzzle shape by a French Toymaker in the 18th century named Lemarchand, commissioned by a wealthy aristocrat who was into Dark Magic.  Opening the box by solving its mechanical puzzle opens the gates to another dimension where Endless Pain and Torture is practiced by its beings, and it can be considered "Hell" by humans, as the beings that dwell there could be seen as quite hideous and disfigured by humans.

I remember this movies too when I was a child, in the video centerĀ“s shelves that were near my house. I always like terror movies since I was a kid, but I never saw the Hellraiser series. Other movie that I never saw was Poltergeist. Oh, and I hate It, BTW >:(.
