Title: Dominus in Dracula X: Nocturne (SSOTN)
Post by: zangetsu468 on May 02, 2018, 07:54:34 AM
The proof is in the pudding.
I've watched several YouTube videos that indicate the PSX version not incorporating this technique into Final Form [Prologue] Dracula.
My mind is blown, and all I can think about is headcanon.... #canonistoostrong

CVD won't let me upload the file, so here it is on my Instagram https://instagram.com/p/BiRwxZvFLll/

EDIT: Specifically "Dominus Hatred".

I'll blow your mind even further:

Dracula has used that as far back as Castlevania x68000 (Chronicles), albeit a bit differently colored:

There's also a 3D version of it on Curse of Darkness (Dracula's 2nd form). Watching it in movement sells it (multiple green beams with long tails falling on top of you):

Christopher Belmont is also no stranger to this move, although Adventure Rebirth is not supposed to be canon:

Portrait of Ruin brings us a more different version of it, in red:

Cool. In fairness I never finished the final stage of AR.

Why is it you always know things nobody knows plottwist?
I'm still glad I found it on my own accord all the same :P

I think a good share of people knew that, but I have also obsessively pored over every bit of Castlevania that I could to understand why some stuff is the way it is. You're not too shabby either, dude :)

And it takes keen eyes. Despite me saying above that a good share of people knew that, MOST people don't. Most people don't give credit to continuity details that Castlevania does. It's all over the place in this series. Not mentioning people obliterating Dracula with consecutive Hydro Storms before he can pull off this move. So they end up not even seeing this.

It's an amazing feeling to discover this stuff, it really improves the love for the entire series. So, congrats :P and I agree -- the canon is too strong here.

That move Dracula uses is also in SotN's prologue stage. You simply have to wait for him to use it though it doesn't happen nearly as often as it does in CV X68000. I personally like to take my time in that fight so that's how I found out about it.

Are you certain it's in the all versions of the game?

I've been watching several playthroughs and can't identify one that shows it. It would be strange if the same boss pattern shifted between SOTN and SSOTN.

@plottwist I'll gladly take that compliment, thank you :)

I don't know about all versions of the game, but definitely in the PS1 release. That's where I saw it.

I'll be confirming X and D9. You can get him to repeatedly do this move if you let him corner you, and you start jumping in place nonstop doing backflips.
