I don't know if this is the case in Castlevania 3, but in Cv1 if you were to jump from a big height and pressed attack just as you were to land you'd whip while crouching. I haven't played in a while so I don't know if the same happens if you use subweapons, or if this carried over to Castlevania 3.

But hey, just throwing suggestions.

This may seem like a stupid question, but while looking through the graphics in Castlevania III on the NES, I noticed Sypha has sprites for casting spells while ducking. You can't press up and duck at the same time, right? Or is there some other means of casting a spell while using the ducking sprite as Sypha? And no, this wasn't a case of improperly ripping sprites, this was using in-game sprite data.

I probably should've mentioned Samus' armor. it's not really behaving like armor should ie withstanding hits. Even with both suit upgrades I noticed Samus still taking heavy amounts of damage. Traditionally the Veria suit is supposed to reduce damage up at least 1/2 and the Gravity suit by another 1/4. I don't think MercurySteam understands what armor is actually for or how it works in-game. Even regular enemies' attacks are still very punishing.

A lot. If I had to cut it down to a top 5, it would probably be the Souls series, Streets of Rage, Doom, Resident Evil, and Nioh.

Other than that, I've always been a big fan of Ninja Gaiden (both old and new), Contra, Double Dragon, Legend of Zelda, Metroid (only the 2D ones, though), Wolfenstein, and Mega Man X.

We could have the same list if you swap Streets of Rage for Half-Life.

The only games I've actually joined communities for have been CV, Metroid, and Mega Man.

Really enjoying this game, much like I enjoyed Samus Returns. I like the fact that the bosses require real strategy and aren't just missile sponges.  The graphics are amazing, the power suit looks absolutely stunning in this game! One thing that was missing in Samus Returns was the speed booster and that's now back and so is the shine spark!  The melee counter is back but the gameplay doesn't rely on it as much which is also an improvement.  The only real negative for me would be some of the music isn't all that interesting.

Very slowly doing the reboot of Dr Slump from the late 90's, but the interest in it is waning. The original series was better by miles.

Top franchises for me (not in order):

- Castlevania
- Zelda
- Final Fantasy
- Metroid

There’s no clear 5th, because there’s too many random awesome games, some of which are one hit wonders..
