Topic: These forums are shit

You know these forums are all the same, a bunch of crybabies. Chapel, Dungeon, all the same crap. I try to have a conversation about Castlevania stuff on either site and I am told what I can and cant talk about. Posts get locked and deleted, but other posts with people threatening to break people in half are left open and encouraged to go on with replies. You got all kinds of people fighting and insulting each other over which Castlevania game is better. I am not coming back to the Dungeon or Chapel sites ever again, not their forums or main sites. You can go ahead and delete all those threads of mine you locked too.

You're seriously complaining about off-topic/non-Castlevania-related (only related in the sense that they pertain to Castlevania message boards) threads in the Castlevania section being locked?

C'mon now, surely you have more sense than that? Oh, wait—this is the Internet. So let's make a thread and bitch about how all these Castlevania forums are shit and the same.

I don't think anyone's being a crybaby.
However, certain sections are made for certain discussion.
If you go to Fan Stuff and don't talk about music/art/sprites/graphics, and instead talk about the latest version of DoubleDragon, you're gonna get your post moved.
If you go to HG101 and talk about Castlevania games, your post will get moved to CvGDiscussion.
If you go to CVGDiscussion and talk about OFF TOPIC, your post will get moved to Off Topic.

With all of these, if there's already a post about that topic in that forum, then one of the topics will get locked (EDIT: We make it a general rule to keep a locked topic up for a day or so, so that people catch up on stuff in case anything was missed).

If you read the "Read here first" thread (our Rules thread, essentially), we don't tolerate spam posts, or general asshattery.  One of the threads was advertising another site to go to (which is frowned upon here), and the other was talking about another site being down, a thread that has a counterpart thread here, in Off Topic.  I think locking the thread (which means people can still view it) is a good procedure.  But I suppose I could have merged those two topics with the one here at Off Topic.  Apologies for not having thought of that option until now.

Actually, I take that back.  No apologies for having not merged, since it would just generate thread redundancy.

If I were a true forum nazi I would've just erased the posts.  I didn't, and did refer to the topic that exists in Off Topic, sooooooooooo...

I can't really understand why people make these "I MAD! I LEAVING!" posts in the *very forums* they're decrying. I've left a few places before for a variety of reasons, but I went quietly, or at least under different circumstances than a whiny farewell post. If you really find an internet forum to be so "bad," then just leave. What do you hope to accomplish by whining about it?

Try not to be so angry with those at the forum there Draculas Curse. Jorge has set up a set of rules for us to follow by in order to protect us and anybody else and also keep the forum itself clean and organized. When I first logged onto the Dungeon back in the early 2000's, such rules never existed and as such, there were several instances we're people (new and old) would be 'witch hunted' so to speak by almost anybody looking to 'get in on the action' without realizing the damage they'd be causing and not care at all about who they ended up hurting. Trust me, this site is a lot better then it was. At first I thought that having so many rules would severely limit ability to converse with all those here. but that's just not the case at all. You should sit down with jorge and have an e-mail disscusion to clear the air of any missunderstandings you might have.

Considering how strict and enforced certain rules are on this board now, I look back and am amazed at how much we got away with on the ezboard. Seems like if you posted "WARNING" at the beginning of a thread title, you could post everything just short of child porn.

Times have changed, they have.

Now that I think about it, that was pretty rotten of us, ha ha. (Not of Jorge and I, but of myself and the other miscreants.) The most popular website about Castlevania on the entire interwebz, a series that really doesn't have all that extreme of content and a lot of kids play, and here the message board attached to it is a total dreg full of smut and filth. Good times.
