Does anyone else feel like the Souls series is the new Castlevania?
- if you pretend there's good music
- if you pretend Dracula is waiting for you at the end
- not much platforming, but you certainly drop into some pits
- The combat is much more like original 2-D CV - unlike the LOS version

Its almost enough to hold me over. I'm not eagerly awaiting a new CV game because of these.
I'm just wondering If I'm the only one, or if other CV fans like the Souls series.

Maybe in the campy Halloween aesthetics, but that's about it. Castlevania never had such a horrendous difficulty, even in the NES games. I gave the souls series a try and even Bloodborne. But in the end the difficulty is just not my cup of tea.

Souls from what I've seen would feel like Castlevania but with a more barbarian-esque and less SOTN feel.
The inspiration for the Souls series actually originated from Berserk.

I have the Steam version of Dark Souls.  Sometimes I would open the overlay browser, go to Youtube then pop on some Castlevania music to jam to.

Not much, looks and feels like a 3d version of Diablo or the NES game Swordmaster.
