I understand this is not the tenth or even twenty fifth versions so I didn't expect the movie to sound like them. First off I thought the younger actors were much better singers than the older ones. The guy who was Marius did a very good job in my opinion. While he could carry a tune Russell Crowe was the weakest singing link in the cast.

Some of the songs where Hugh sings were lacking and other I thought sounded great. The biggest thing was some songs were sang out of order(but everything turned out ok) and they cut some songs short and left out parts. It wasn't the 10th but I thought it was better than the 25th.

Not being much a fan of musicals, it didn't really catch my eye. But I did go see Django Unchained last night and had my world rocked. :o

One of the most memorable things about seeing the movie last night was seeing a mob of people yell at the ushers because they were at the wrong end of the line.

The rest was good. Sacha Baron Cohen was very memorable. That 'look down' song from the beginning is still stuck in my head.

Yeah I thought Sacha Baron did a good job too.

Oh I wasn't aware Django was out.

I stumbled into a theatre over on Sunset Blvd and decided to see "The Hobbit." I have a soft spot for Tolkien's novels, and The Hobbit is my favorite amongst them. Overall, I enjoyed it. The only thing that really put me off was this nonsense:

They just couldn't help themselves. Maybe I should have seen Les Misérables instead.

The only version of Les Miserables I'll watch is the Liam Neeson version, 'cuz it doesn't have that atrocious singing in it.

I've heard some pretty bad versions but if you want some damn good singing listen to the 10th anniversary.

I agree! I hate musicals and always have. The only one I actually like and can watch multiple times is Mary Poppins

Jorge is just mad because he wasn't cast to sing in it.

Agreed. i have yet to see it, but I was kinda annoyed that they had to hollywood-ize Thorin. Absolutely pointless. The fact that I'm a huge fan of the animated Hobbit doesn't help either.

In other news, for those of you who are also fans of the animated version, but were really ticked that the DVD version completely screwed the pooch in the sound department, I HIGHLY suggest you do a search for the HI-FI Hobbit torrent. It's the DVD version video, with the VHS audio. So awesome  :)
