I seriously hope they make this game the way it was intended some day.
Honestly, as crazy as the plot was supposed to be, it's not as though this game's would have been much weirder than anything else that was happening in the 1990's or early 2000's.
It could work as a title meant to serve as a throwback to a certain era of gaming, much like
Shovel Knight and
Bloodstained COTM are meant to be.
"Come and reexperience a simpler time, when both plot and gameplay served whatever batshit insane whims the writers could dream up a creator thought would maximize the fun you could have on a weekend, a time when the notion of "continuity" might as well have been poison of Blockbuster VHS rentals, Ninjas, World-Ending Martial Arts Tournaments, and the mythical Bandicoot! Amidst the legends of this fantastical and chaotic era, a single name stands out: "BELMONT". Immerse yourself in a long-forgotten legend of the Belmonts, only recently recovered."
You can put that on the back of the box, Konami. I won't charge a single goddamn penny for that. Have that on me.
Honestly, we could use more of those games today.
A, well,
resurrected take on Resurrection could be just the thing to save the series from Konmai's own over-engorged sense of self-importance and seriousness.
