The first time I played the game I was doing okay until I ran into one of those damn reaper like bosses and the mf kicked my ass so many times started to get annoyed, I eventually managed to beat it just to ran into another annoying boss a couple of missions later. I don't remember what mission was but the boss was some kind of deform creature and it was a pain on the ass because I had to activate some stupid seals on the wall first and don't wtf had to do later.

Today I started the game from the beginning and I completely forgot how to play it so I was super clumsy, moreover I remembered one of the things I didn't like about it, the camera angles. I never get used to that, I have the same problem with other games that use fixed camera but in DMC the angle changes too often for me, it's so disorienting it takes forever to make a single jump if the angle of the camera does not let me see wtf I'm doing.

I'm gonna beat this mf, no damn game treats me like that and get away with it >:C

And this bastard, I HATE HIM. And the guy playing makes it look so fucking easy u_u
Devil May Cry-mission 6

Ironically I like it better than newer DMCs. It's a great fucking game I guess.
Any DMC experts around to give me some tips?

I bought the Anniversary Set for PS2 that has the first 3 games. As well as 4 when I saw it for 10 bucks at toys r us. I beat the first one, but after you mentioned the grim reaper type guys I remember them. I think they gave me more trouble than about any other enemy type in the game. They are ass holes 4 sho! I think there was some easier way to beat them I finally figured out. It was a really cool game though, I started 2 and it didn't seem as cool. I got a bit into 3 but damn it's annoyingly hard for me. Devil May Cry 4 also was giving me some problems and I never played more than a couple hours into it. Some big ol' frog was kicking my butt. I always wanted to like these games a lot. Always busy with other stuff. I keep meaning to at least play through 3 and 4. Apparently 2 is the shitty one as far as I've read. I still have them in any case so maybe one day, I'll bust them out and beat em. Might just be that you need to level up certain powers/items to be able to kick some more ass!

That's the spirit! It's why you play hard games.

For the Mission 6 Scissors guy... I haven't played it for a while, but as I recall you want to do a lot of jumping slashes. The little magic portals he shoots on the ground are meant to launch you up in the air for him to stab you, but you can use these to your advantage because that's when he'll be in reach of your sword. Abuse the jumping slash, shotgun when he's close enough, and roll around (R1+direction+triangle) when he starts spinning and going apeshit on you.

thanks for the tips guys, I'll try that.

DMC 3 is another hard ass I don't remember where I got stuck in that one but I already passed the part where Dante is defeated by Vergil and activates his devil trigger for the first time. Dante is such a show off in that game lol

I heard the new game is being developed with a different company, that Dante is a different guy with the same name than the original one and looks like a pansy potthead so it's possible that one is not going to be so hard as the others, at least it doesn't look there's gonna be any reapers. The enemies I saw on the videos looked more like robots than demons.

Unfortunately, I don't have any tips for you on DMC1.  It's one of the harder games I've beaten, and the only DMC I've beaten.  I always want to go back and play through it again, but when I get to the first spider/scorpion encounter, I'm reminded how tough the game is and I put it down.

I believe the shapeshifting boss with the seals on the wall is named Nightmare if you want to look elsewhere for tips.

DMC3 is much harder than DMC1.  I've never even beaten the Cerberus boss on Normal mode.  That's another game I want to play through, but I just don't have the patience.  I bought the original version and put it away after trying to beat Cerberus for the 27th time.  Then the Special Edition came out with its adjustable difficulty and play as Vergil mode, so I picked that up.  I played a few stages/bosses in on the Easy mode, but I just felt like I was ripping myself off of the real experience and tried Normal mode again. Eight more Cerberus encounters and I tossed it back on the shelf next to the dust-covered original.

I played DMC2 back in the day but it didn't interest me.  I played DMC4 a bit at a friend's place, and it looked alright, but it's not a very high gaming priority for me anymore.

Î am a big DMC fan and. I didnt read every post, so sorry if i say anything that is already said.

For the 1st DMC, Power up everything you have. Repeat the same level again and again for the red points.
I finished the game on Nightmare with a friend, who is a beast at this game (and many others. he really did lvl up every single char on FF7 to 99, and the same he did at FF8, FF9 and FF10....) DMC same thing. hes always in the right mood. just reacting and not think about his next move...

But there are not much more helps and tips. u need luck. u need to get used to the control perfectly and for the "riddle passages" everytime u play the game again you always will get stuck at the same spots.
I played DMC 3 more than 50 Times. But i always get stuck at the start with the "clock" riddle. aaaaalways...

edit: well, watch the moves of your enemys, that always a good point. I remember to use the block button alot. that was pretty helpful.

Just play through the game on easy, and after you get used to the game, I found that normal/hard/very hard weren't that tough to beat. Dante Must Die on the other hand...

I think DMC1 is much harder than 3. I have only beaten it on normal, and I can't even beat that spider boss on hard.

I'm waiting for the DMC HD Collection to be released in the Spring, so I can tackle all of them at once. I already defeated DMC4, and I don't know what to think about "DmC."

DMC4 spoilerrrr

That was never actually confirmed by Capcom proper, just hinted at in the novel prequel of DMC4, and "confirmed" by a member of Capcom USA who claimed to have some vague connection with the game's localization. Sounds rather shaky if you ask me, when you consider that Capcom's official stance on all the Devil May Cry novels so far has been that they are licensed AU-fics at best, and absolutely detestable non-canon entries at worst.

Even so, only Sanctus even believes it in the novel. Nero thinks the story is a load of crap, and Dante considers the prospect of Vergil sexing ANYONE to be an outright impossibility. And so should you, given what we've seen of the man.

So yeah.

The prevailing theory I've seen on the net seems to believe that Nero is a more distant relation to Sparda, like a descendant of another son of Sparda born during the Dark Knight's indeterminate amount of time spent on Earth, with Nero's blood being "less perfect" in Sanctus' eyes because more generations had passed for Nero's family and so he was biologically more Human than Dante and Vergil, who are direct offspring of Sparda, rather than a distant descendant.

Granted, there's not even a semi-canon AU novel to draw on here, but it's not logically impossible either. And it makes more sense than Nero being the son of a man who only gets a boner for power rather than weakling human women.

Just saying.

And that's my two cents.

Have at you.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

A slate that is starting to look PRETTY GOOD.

Compare with the original look for reDante:

So glad the guy cleaned up.
He actually is starting to resemble a black haired DMC3 Dante if you stare really hard at the first pic for a while.
