NOT INCLUDING ANY TRACK FROM THE LORDS OF SHADOW GAMES
what in ur opinion is the absolute worst music piece in the castlevania

Gotta be this - Seller Of Fine Goods. :P

HoD had the most of the worst songs in the series. It just doesn't live up to the other games in the GBA department. What doesn't help it even more is that they were composed in a rather sub-par formate when compared to it's other GBA counterparts. While Michiru Yamane did some of the compositions there was also another artist working on the game's music as well and many of his tracks were just all over the place *dizzy* :P *dizzy*
There is another game that actually does a bad job for one of it's songs; Rondo of Blood's rendition of Vampirekiller. I like all the different styles of Vampirekiller that have been done over the course of the series...except Rondo's version. There's this annoying pause near the climax in the tune that ruins the flow of the whole song. And they dared to put in a sound effect thinking it would make it sound cooler. It doesn't. It's just annoying.
-
Yeah it's gotta be just whichever song you take your pick of from Harmony of Dissonance. Even if there's a good composition in it here or there, you can't really tell from how poor the sound quality is. They had to compress it to hell to get some of the visuals in as I recall. I've noticed that I actually enjoy playing HoD much more when the sound is muted, which is particularly sad for a Castlevania game. And it's made even more noticeable by the fact that CotM's soundtrack had been practically a "greatest hits" compilation from across the series.
-
I actually love how the music sounds in Harmony of Dissonance. It adds to the creepy and surreal nature of the game perfectly, I think.
-
Does "I am the wind" count?
-
Sadly, I'm not the perfect CV fan...I had to look a few of these up to remember for sure which they were. The pause/noise in Rondo's Vampire Killer is annoying, but I like the rest of the song.
But my first thought was definitely Harmony of Dissonance in general. I kinda like the songs in that, the melodies and harmonies of many of the songs sound great...and (to fit with the title) there is an odd harmony in the dissonance of some of the melodies/harmonies. But the quality of the sound is terrible. >.< I remember being excited to hear the new music on HoD when I picked it up, and still remember my initial thoughts. The title screen sounded fine, and then the name screen music started and I thought, "What the crap?! That sounds awful! Why'd they make it worse?! CotM sounded great! Maybe it'll get better." But it didn't. I played through the game, liking the music worse and worse until the credits, where I thought, "This is awesome! Why didn't they make the whole game this way?!?!"
When I bought the CotM soundtrack later, I gave the music another chance, and while I still hate the sound, I can enjoy some of the harmony as I mentioned.
And "I am the Wind"...UGH! I'd forgotten about that one. I remember somehow having the idea that the credits music is always the best, until I heard this song. When the lyrics started, I distinctly remember shouting, "Oh my God!" and muting the TV.
So that's my vote...HoD and I am the Wind.

I am the Wind was one of those things to me that is so awful its good. I was sad it didn't get a remix in DXC.

HoD has the odd distinction of being the handheld CV title with both the lowest quality music as well as the highest quality:
Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance - Successor of fate (credits) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tuci49S4AQ#)
It seems many people forget that the ending credits and title screen are both SotN-quality in terms of sound quality. Of course Successor of Fate is a very good song, so moving along~
In terms of stage themes, I found Nightmare from CVIII to be very monotonous.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQCZKYcQwUU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQCZKYcQwUU#)
It was just as bad in CotM.
HoD's standard boss theme is just a pile of notes:

I could only find Jorge's arrangement on Youtube, after 3 seconds of searching anyways.

I'm not sure I have any idea what you're talking about. :-S What tracks are these?

Hokkai is a very underappreciated composer, I think. Most of his songs haven't a strong catching melody like Yamane's music for example, but it's very effective at evoking a feeling of dread and intensity that hasn't been achieved anymore before or since. It fits Castlevania perfectly. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think he's actually my favorite composer of the entire series.

Aqueduct of Dragons would have sounded much better if the approach was more Orchestrated and not drum heavy, It's just a few examples that his much is very good, I just think the direction of most songs are off...

Forum is kind of slow. Hope no one minds the bump.
HoD's merchant theme is just awful. I like quite a few of the compositions in that game, but that song is just bad. It sounds like the background beat for a really awful NES game or something.

Oh, what could have been. :(

It's very corny, and most people don't digest corn, but you know what? Corn tastes good to me!

I could hear this as a remix for raves. It seems plausible.

Thanks a lot for the clarification, dood, serioulsy :).

To me, far from monotonous or bad, I find Nightmare to be very creepy.
As for a worst, well is very difficult to me to mention one, to be sure, but if I have to mention one, I vote for Tragedy´s Pulse, from Order of Ecclesia, principally the very beggining.

I am not a fan of the Vampire Killer remix in Castlevania Chronicles, but the real offender in that game was the remix of Wicked Child. It is, quite frankly, the worst remix I've ever heard of that particular song. The original is one of my all time favorites.
Other than that I am liking most of the music in these games, but I can't stand "Invitation of a Crazed Moon" from Portrait of Ruin. I think it has more to do with the arrangment than the actual melody though. It almost has an awful funky 70's vibe to it, especially in the beginning. Can't put my finger on it but it completely ruins it for me.

:o Oh. My. Goodness. CVCs Wicked Child sounds terrible!! I'm okay with its version of Vampire Killer, but Wicked Child is horrendous!
It's kinda funny though that they both sound like disco themes or something. They make me picture that Bug Disco place (http://youtu.be/uYhKH8ptPJk?t=4m35s) in Jet Force Gemini! I imagine a bunch of people standing and dancing around to these tunes in a setting like that.
-
Its not bad, but this music and room are really unexpected and a bit out of place, even so it is hilarious
Super Nintendo - Castlevania 4 - Secret Room (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZmm9r7uZhc#)
I could totally see this theme being used for a merchant or something like that.
-
What about the song from the Chapel's confessional in SOTN where you meet the priest..
That song is just not liked by me in the sense that it's creepy and you know there's a chance you'll be shanked.

The action/color of the priest would tell you if he's gonna stab you or drop wine.
-
I had to look up the "Confessional Theme"...I think my copy sometimes continues to play the chapel theme, or sometimes plays silence...must be messed up. :-/
-
The HOD merchant theme has already been mentioned. Off the top of my head, that's easily the worst CV track.
HOD overall had incredible music. I think people allow the junky quality to get in the way of the great compositions. Give it some better quality sounds and it might be the best soundtrack of the GBA and DS games.
Besides, I like those low-quality sounds. And Yamane's few contributions to the soundtrack, it should be mentioned, sound absolutely clowny.
-
I think you're right. With some better quality sounds, I think it'd be more popular.
-
I always found CV4's soundtrack to be a real weird mix of excellent production with awful compositions. I think this is one of the less fortunate results of that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzXtYhCoTpM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzXtYhCoTpM)
And even as much as the tune annoys me, there's a tone and memories attached to it, and I do really like the modest string bass going on in the background.
-
In my opinion, one of my least favorites has to be passpied. It just came out of nowhere in the game and for a final level theme, it just lacks. Strange how throughout most of the game the soundtrack is awesome.

You don't hate on that one song from SCIV that sounds sort of like a Streets of Rage BGM.
You just don't do that.

I never knew this before until Jorge brought it up several months ago, but Passepied is an actual composition long before Belmont's Revenge was made. While it is interesting that they would use it in a CV game it is the least-liked tune in the whole soundtrack. Listening to it made playing the final stage seem long and monotonous.

I disagree. It's very vampire on a street corner of New Orleans meets classic Transylvanian mythology.

Yup. In fact, I actually performed this once as part of Debussy's Suite Bergamasque.
Of course, the piece loses all of its impressionistic quality to the GB's chiptune track, and it's pretty jarring as the final stage theme in a Castlevania game. But it's still a nice classical nod.
-
This will be an unpopular opinion (I got a lot of those concerning the series), but... entire CV Chronicles soundtrack.

This:

It just sounds so out of place. It worked OK in Adventure Rebirth but I think they could have picked a better song.

It sounds like Wario should have been in HoD.

I'd like to say stage 4 in Legends is the worst song in the series now. I got there, listened, and pure hatred filed me lol. It's literally just a mess of bleeps and bloops with an occasional tune in there. Too bad, cus Legends has a pretty good ost (Bloody Tears on stage 1 man, highly underrated imo)
