Probably play some old school Classic Castlevania. Those early games captured the mood and essence of Halloween perfectly.
Each year I hold an October Horrothon for myself (and anyone around who wants to watch some flicks). I know a guy online whose best was something like 137 horror movies during the month a couple years ago. I could NEVER do that, and at most I think I've watched around 20. I'm not the true marathoning sort, you see, but I look forward to it every year because the best weather sets in and it just gives me that nostalgic Halloween vibe to have the windows open and watching some scary movies.
Last year I carved a jack-o'-lantern, will probably do the same. Pick one up at the apple orchard along with some cookies and apple cider.
I really wanna play through Costume Quest again because that sorta lets you relive that childhood fun of Halloween if you don't have kids to take trick or treating.
I just got the Universal Monsters Blu-ray box—the UK one since it's practically identical and only cost around $30 as opposed to $80 for the US set—and plan to watch all those, since I'm unfamiliar with all but Dracula and Frankenstein. My friends and I have also been talking about rewatching all the Evil Dead movies, and since I now own all four on Blu-ray (the French release of the director's cut roooooolz), I plan on having 'em over for a couple nights.
Specifically Silent Hill on the PS1, Resident Evil 2 on the Dreamcast, REmake and RE0 on GCN. Anyone wanna recommend which one I should try first?

a school thats out for halloween!? damn wish Id grown up there!
I dunno if Im gonna *need* as costume this year but I usually make a new coat sometime between this month and november. I dunno if I posted pics here before or not but I made this last year (coat and mask)
Halloween is on October 31st. Another month and a half. You people have no patience. :P
I won't be doing much. I would most likely be preparing for Christmas.

What's next? September?! October is the month for Halloween. November is the month of remembrance. December is the month of Christmas; not before.
It's way, way too early to prepare for Christmas. Wait till December then you'll be in the correct month. :) although I'm assuming you do it to avoid the Christmas rush when things are chaotic.
This is what I loath about today's consumerism. All the stores get decked out for Christmas after Halloween's almost over and they don't even wait for November to pass, they just go straight to next holiday. I don't want to see Christmas stuff in October nor November. Just December where we've always seen it. Otherwise I'd get really tired of seeing Christmas stuff constantly for several months, and that's not how it should be. They never used to do that when I was still a kid but somewhere along the way to my adulthood, someone/someones got the silly idea into their heads to push back the Christmas sales to November then back again to October. I watched Rob Zombie's Halloween last night, and while it was a big fat load of suck
I'll probably watch the sequel just out of curiosity. To be honest, I always hated how the original sequelI actually like H20. I wish they would of continued from there.I always thought that kind of ruined the feel of the original film. Well, not ruin it, since it's still a great flick, I just have to watch it as a standalone piece and ignore what was established later, because it doesn't make sense to me. There really should never have been any sequels.(click to show/hide)
That said, I like II and III and to some extent 4.
After seeing 5 minutes I noticed that these voices and kind of humor were familiar and them remembered from where, so I checked the channel and its really from retsupurae xD
I already knew that Sonic.EXE thing because of the youtube video showing a game based on that, but with them reading the fic it becomes even more cool and funny.
I recommend Trick 'r Treat.
Hell, might as well get the Nerd horror episodes in here.
but I doubt I'll have that much money in a week.
Do you mean in a month? Halloween is always on the 31st of October.
The only ones I've seen are Dead Silence, Alien and Eraserhead (not really horror tho), so there's plenty to choose from..Yep! You can see a list of 31 of my top recommendations on the previous page. You could start watching some of them now, there's plenty of time for lead up and as with any major holiday half the fun is anticipation and celebrations leading up to it. If money is an issue several of my recommendations are in the public domain (Night of the Living Dead (1968), Nosferatu, White Zombie, The Last Man on Earth, and I think the original 1959 House on Haunted Hill) and can be watched freely on archive.org (ad-free) or youtube.

If you want movies that have influenced Castlevania, I recommend Vampire Hunter D and Bram Stoker's Dracula. As well as Universal Studios' Dracula (1931) and Son of Dracula and Hammer Studios' Horror of Dracula. Though beyond that you get to the list of movies that have probably or possibly (rather than definitely) had a lasting or notable influence on the series, and that list is considerably larger.

I'm so ready for this.
I'm going to knock out as many horror-themed games as I can in October, starting with the Splatterhouse remake. I'd like to play Amnesia or one of the Penumbra games, too, but outside of that I'm not sure what else I might play.
starting with the Splatterhouse remake.
I dig The Shining but IMO Halloween is a far better movie.
You can't really go wrong with either and they're wildly different.
Maybe I should just get off my butt and make that Shredder Costume I always wanted?
I might be able to swing an April O'Neil and maybe a Bebop. Of course I'd probably get roped into making their costumes too.
Any progress?Nope.
Re-Animator
This one's normally a perfect 5/5 movie for me or close to, but this time around I watched the Integral Version, which is a mash-up of the Unrated and R-rated versions of the film. Unrated version is clearly superior, and I've never seen the R-rated cut which took out much of the blood and boobs and added in some unnecessary story stuff—only seen the scenes separately as deleted scenes—but seeing it all put together into one movie was pretty interesting and offered a different experience from what I'm used to, while still essentially keeping the good bits intact (save for the alternate take of the sex scene—no Barbara Crampton boobs being thrown about by gravity, less titillating pulling-up-of-the-panties shot, etc.). The scenes originally exclusive to the R-rated version feel kind of awkward and tacked on, but when so much footage from the original was taken out, you gotta admire the filmmakers for making some kind of compromise. Awesome Blu-ray from Germany (new transfer from an interpositive; the US Blu-ray is from an ass-old master), glad I snagged up the limited first edition with the Integral Version for curiosity's sake and the ultra-cool mediabook packaging. 4/5
Somebody (I forget) was disappointed last year when I didn't go through with this, so here we are.
I'll probably make the attempt for a better picture closer to holiday.
Love those games, but man are they difficult.
I always thought the original arcade game was difficult until I familiarized myself with and mastered the TG16 version. From there, the arcade version got a lot easier and I can beat it pretty easily. Good to build yourself up.
