I'm thinking something akin to DXC, that not everyone liked at all.

wait, what?

Are you implying the DXC was not well received among the fanbase?

"I was told that he expects to see a new Fire Emblem, a new Castlevania, and a Contra but doesn't expect a lot of people will be happy with the direction those games are taking."

Messing up Castlevania would be bad enough, but Contra, too?! I hope not. 3DS has potential in its own way, but then things like the BM64-like Bomberman 3D get shelved, and other franchises get ports, remakes, or wild reimaginings that have little to do with anything. My prediction: Castlevania: Zobek's Storybook Adventure 3D Patrick Stewart narrates 3D pages of text!!! :D

No. I'm saying not everyone liked the change of the graphics from 2D to 3D.

Oh,

So what your saying is a good inbetween would be a 2.5D Castlevania with 3D graphics and traditional 2.D gameplay?

Because if so I agree.

No, I'm saying not everyone liked the graphics of DXC. And I agree with them. The gameplays was alright, though.

Okay, isn't this a "no-brainer"? They dont' think a lot of people will like the way the new CV and Contra are going. Hmmm... well, then why go there? They already know it's going to piss people off. A LOT of people(they even say it). Either Konami's operating on pure jackass logic, or they believe this "new way" will be beneficial, even despite it's an apparent gamble. LOL! I feel like some of these companies are running on the logic you see the parents of South Park run on. How a lot of the time, the kids have more sense than the adults. "Oh, you don't understand, Stan. It's so much more complex that you think it is! You're young, you don't know the way the world works!".

Considering the fact that its was on a handheld I think the graphics quality deserves a little lenience IMO.

Considering what system it was on the graphics where pretty good.

I'm willing to be that a Xbox 360 or PS3 2.5D game would have awesome graphics.

I thought, the graphics quality was ok, I just thought the bitmapping in the backgrounds was way too 'busy'. Like they just slapped them on without considering their scale or whether they fit the original game's concepts well.

Creepy. I had a dream last night that I was reading a magazine about a new 3DS Castlevania and Contra. No joke. If they're premonitory, like my one dream about a Mega Man X RPG about a year before Command Mission was announced, we have nothing to worry about. 2D or at least 2.5D. (Or, more likely, my subconscious is just trolling me.)

I'm now a little worried after hearing that people might not be pleased with the direction. They better not be things other than action games. I'm envisioning Contra being a bad TPS that uses the 3DS motion sensor to aim. Barf.

The Games Industry. Bringing half-assed innovation where no one asked for it in the first place.

I hope it's something real and not a rumor. I won't lie I got excited when I saw Fire Emblem in the title too.

Desperately hoping it's a Classicvania, makes sense when they say the games are going for a direction "not everyone will be happy with." The Metroidvanias are far more popular than the Classicvanias.

Oh who am I kidding it's gonna be some lame ass spinoff or LoS sequel. :(

I've said it before and I will say it again.

I would LOVE to finally see a 2.5D metroidvania.

We already have a 2.5D classicvania so I have always thought that the metroidvanias deserved a shot.

But alas, this will not come to pass.

This would be awesome...especially if on a console. I guess we'll find out how true this rumor is next week at TGS.
