Title: YesAsia Order Cancellation Issues
Post by: TatteredSeraph on March 24, 2016, 07:08:57 PM
Has anyone ever ordered from YesAsia before?  In desparation throug seeing CD Japan was shwoing for a time as sold out / out of print on the 20th anniversary Cardcaptor Sakura artbook, I bought it for a considerable mark-up from YesAsia.  But it's showing as orderable again now on CD Japan, and I want to cancel the YesAsia order.  Despite saying that it's possible to cancel orders, and that payment is taken when the item is shipping, paypal is saying I've already been charged for the item, and I can't find anywhere in my account settings a cancel order button.  Any help on this guys by chance?  I'm super pissed off now, as while i've emailed them, the automatic responce email is saying there's a delay in customer support responce.  Halp please.

Either contact the website you bought it from (more below) and ask for a refund or contact paypal directly and let them know of the situation that orders can be cancelled and get them to intervene. Of course payment will be taken if you pay for it, but this is the entire point of paypal in the first place, to protect the consumer and act as a mediator between yourself and the seller.

Basically if a website is telling you that you can cancel an order, they need to give you the option to cancel the order by contacting them. If they don't reply to the consumer within a reasonable amount of time (48-72 hrs) I would go to your credit card company. (If you didn't buy with a credit card this is why it's important to! If you spend your money the bank doesn't care where it goes, when you're spending the bank's credit they care where it goes!!) If it was bought on paypal and via a credit card call the bank and have them cancel the order; technically you did not receive a good/service which you paid for; the service being the right to cancel your order - although YesAsia's T&C's will apply.

If all else fails and you paid with cash, I'd contact paypal and explain the situation. Remember when a seller sells you a good or service (under their T&C's) you are still protected REGARDLESS by consumer protection laws of the country from where you were at the point of sale. Under your country's law you should be able to argue that point.

YesAsia finally got back to be finally this morning saying its non-cancellable as stock already ordered and it says on the item listing it can't be cancelled.  It's there now but I didnt see it there when I placed the order.  I've spoken to PayPal and my bank, trying to get a block on the transaction, but the bank said as its in the T&C, there's nothing they can do.  It's there but good grief is it hard to navigate.  *Sighs*. I would not have bought it from them had I known, even before I found out CD Japan restocked the book.  On the website it looked like unopened books from Japan couldn't be returned but it looked like I'd be able to cancel the order before it was dispatched.  Never buying from them again!

You might be able to return the item but you'd have to foot the shipping.

Says books from Japan non returnable unless defective, and only then replacement available.  Looks like my best bet now is to just try and sell the damn thing on, as the copy I bought on CD Japan while trying to cancel the YesAsia copy is about to be shipped.  Hopefully not be too much of an issue seeing as it's already selling out again even after re stockings on other sites.  Just a faff to do, but hopefully I'll be able to get most of my money back.
