It's a little bit sad that the coolest barbarian old-school Simon isn't in a CV game, but rather in Sma5h.
Richter looks really cool and I would've liked to have seen this version in The Dracula X Chronicles, instead of 'overly bound up' kerchief Richter.

It's absurd how much that little video shows how much better Nintendo gets Castlevania than Konami does.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13104670/1/Castlevania-Birth-of-the-Dragon

Dracula was not always a monster. He was once a man named Mathias Cronqvist. A flawed, conflicted, genius of a man. How did the educated, aristocratic, crusader who piously served the church become a vampire, and eventually the Dark Lord himself, the opposing force to God? From a very young age terrors and tragedy shaped the man into the king of all evil. This is his story.

This makes me think, could Nintendo have the rights to make the next Castlevania?

I will sacrifice a fucking goat to Odin if it would make that happen.
I don't own a goat though...
I WILL SACRIFICE SOMEBODY'S FUCKING GOAT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I've always felt that it's a shame that we never got a game that fully realized the epic fantasy atmosphere of the oldschool game covers.  I'd love to see a modern game with 3D graphics that at least attempted it.  This Simon is honestly the closest we have ever gotten to that.
DejaWolf was doing it, but it made so much noise that it was canceled :c, although this may have helped konami to see that there are still fans and many people who expect more from castlevania, perhaps and not to sit idly by the launch from Bloodstained, I believe that there will be a good game of exploration, but with the style and art of the old school, but in this moment CV in smash is great

I cried manly tears during last Sma5h Direct. Now, I hope they'll add Jonathan Morris and Julius Belmont as new echo fighters of Simon and Richter, and maybe Shanoa as playable character...

... Oh, and why not Nathan Graves and Reinhardt Schneider? I'M AB-SO-LU-TE-LY SERIOUS.
Force et honneur.

Richter is already considered an echo fighter of Simon, unless I missed something big.

Probably because most casual Castlevania fans have forgotten who those guys are entirely, owing to the fact that their games weren't all that popular.

I mean, I get and appreciate that you're excited, but Smash is a celebration of Nintendo, not Castlevania. Several of Simon Belmont's games were staples of the early Nintendo library, warranting his inclusion. Richter is a very popular character, showing up as a primary character in three nope, four games (initially forgot DXC, remake status be damned) and making cameo appearances in several others, so it makes sense that he'd also be included. These are characters with big, broad fandoms.

Johnny Morris Smol Bean Edition, Julius, Nathan Graves, Reinhardt Schneider, and Shanoa are VERY niche characters, and Shanoa is further damned by having enough visual similarities with Bayonetta that a more casual Smash fan who hadn't played their games could probably confuse them onscreen, which wouldn't play well since Bayonetta is already in Smash Ultimate.

Sounds like you'd love Serio's Castlevania Fighter though.

(God's sake, is that even still around?)

It's good to have dreams though. Welcome to the forums, by the way.

It's still up, but Serio's pretty much run out of steam after going at it for so long.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

Do you think we'll see other characters represented via palette swaps?

Smash palette swaps have always been insanely well-researched. Nathan Graves' look would be easy to pull off with Richter.

They really could pretty closely represent every version of every Belmont.  Simon could easily be Christopher and classic classic Trevor.  Richter could be Leon, Juste, CoD Trevor, possibly even Julius.

Well we technically got Chris via Richter's red costume, although it could also represent the unnamed Rival from the 32X project (aka Hans/Harker)

Shanoa is way more similar to Millenia from Deception 2 though minus the long hair and wearing a stocking.

Shanoa

No. She's arguably in the top 5 CV protagonists tier (Simon, Ritcher, Alucard, Soma and Shanoa). I

Argued by whom?

I don't often see her referred to (especially by name) anywhere outside this website (and the Anti-Chapel forums back when those were a thing). In most discussions that I have seen, the top five tend to be the same all around, even if they shift in order.

Alucard, Richter, Simon, Trevor and for some reason LEON of all characters all get unreal amounts of press in favorites lists. And when Leon doesn't make it, Soma usually is in his place. I don't think I've ever seen Shanoa on more than a couple of those lists, and she's never very close to the top.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am saying that you seem to be pulling from a completely different pile than I am, so I am genuinely curious as to how you came to the conclusions you did.
