« Last post by Jazz Paladin Productions on June 24, 2025, 01:47:04 AM »
So I am a big fan of A) Wild Arms , B) Spaghetti Westerns and C) Ennio Morricone scores, so I decided after years of waiting to finally combine 3 of my favorite things and make an album.

In other exciting news, it was also just featured as Album of the Month on a recent video game music podcast, happy dance!

Hope you like ! Glad to see the forum is still up and running I’ve had a hard time getting in here lately.

Fan Stuff / Re: CHRONICLES OF THE WOLF
« Last post by RichterB on June 20, 2025, 01:36:30 AM »
Congratulations on the launch! My Switch physical copy wasn't coming till Monday so I decided to order a digital PS5 copy. (Part of me wanted to boost this game's profile a little more anyway and show your publisher it was right to invest in you.) It's SO GOOD. I can see the upgrades in animation from Lecarde all over the place. I've actually seen how the different weapon types have different advantages in different situations. I was able to avoid damage in a tight spot by switching to a firearm and angling it. There's more to the combat than reviewers are generally getting. The backgrounds and textures are beautiful. I was worried for nothing. There are plenty of creepy locales! The NPC stories and interactions are immersive. Everyone knew the music was already on point. And...two words, my stopping point so far, "Tortured Soul." That's classic! Migami hasn't lost their touch!!!

Excited to see more. Thanks for all your hard work on this. There are still some minor typos I saw, but not the end of the world. I know how it goes. But just top notch stuff here. I'm sure I'll post about more later on down the road. I feel like there are things I'm already forgetting to say here. Be proud of what you've done.

EDIT: I remembered one thing I wanted to say: The reports of flashing white between menu/map screens, I'm not getting that on PS5 and the loading is super fast. I have no issues with any of that. the UI does what it should, and does it better than the previous demo or Lecarde games.

Today's the day (over here anyway) and my gaming calendar is wide open!  ;D

EDIT: It's funny. Back when the game was first announced, I was wondering if it would directly homage Brotherhood of the Wolf in some way since it also dealt with the Beast of Gevaudan and it's a cult favorite among dark fantasy fans. Come the full release

That was just one of the many, many things I loved about Chronicles of the Wolf. I can't write a full review without sounding like I'm gushing, so I'll just say congratulations to Migami and all who worked on this game. It's one helluva ride, and I look forward to even more from the Migami Monsterverse!

YouTube popped this up recently, even though it's a couple years old. So I decided to give it a watch. You would think after filming this that they would never do it again, but they decided to make it a mini-series on their channel and still play old games to this day. After watching this video, I understood why Craig is such a snarky A-hole in the recent play-throughs.

"Duck, Blabs. Duck and hit!"

"I can do that? Oh, yeah I can!"

WARNING: loud swearing and grating nasally voice

General Castlevania Discussion / My love/hate relationship with Order of Ecclesia

I just thought I’d share my opinion on this game, y’all don’t have to respond but I wanted to get this off my chest.

When I first played it back in 2008 I was really impressed, moreso because of how they amped up the difficulty compared to Portrait of Ruin & Dawn. And I also thought it was really unique in its presentation, they didn’t reuse a lot of previous enemies unlike PoR which is filled with Rondo of Blood sprites. I also bought the special edition package from the now defunct Konamistyle website, Japan exclusive items like the transparent poster, notepad with the Dominus seals, among other random items like the phone cards.

Replaying it on the Dominus collection, my opinion slightly shifted. I still enjoy the game, but now I sense there is still a lot of laziness & cut corners hidden throughout the game that I didn’t notice before. The map & different locations seem cool at first glance but they leave a lot to be desired, there’s only minor exploration in what’s supposed to be mansions & large caves. The enemies themselves, most of them look cool but they’re missing an important detail: death animations. It’s one of the many details that immersed me into SotN, every enemy has their own unique death. In OoE, you kill a lizardman and he just falls over. Same with some of the walking armors, once defeated they just hunch over on their knees & fade in color. While replaying I was wondering, why didn’t the programmers make them explode or disintegrate like in the other games?

There are some areas where the music repeats itself, even in the castle itself, from the entry hall to the library it’s the same song playing on loop. What the fuck? But then as you traverse some of the backgrounds are gorgeous & creepy, like the sky constantly changing from day to night near the outer wall. I love how that was designed & they showed great creativity.

Then there’s Ecclesia itself. Apparently there’s only 3 members in the entire organization? Why have a headquarters with literally nobody else to be found inside. And Barlowe’s motivation is just way too predictable, they gave his betrayal no backstory other than “surprise surprise I’m actually a Dracula disciple & this whole thing has been a ruse all along” blah blah… come on guys, Disney villains from the 90’s had more going on for them than this. Shanoa has no personality either. Maybe it would’ve been better if she sacrificed herself using Dracula’s power giving us a tragic but satisfying ending, cementing the fact that only a true Belmont can withstand Dracula’s might. But Albus’ ghost saves the day, how convenient.

I still feel it’s a better put-together experience than Portrait, but… I don’t know. There’s still not enough meat on the bones.

Hmmm..
PoR gameplay trope,
Generic Nier x Aeterno-looking characters shoe-horned into ROTN’s world,
Same-sameness in feel of environments…

I will reserve judgement, prior to switching my pessimism..(pun Nintended)

It's the prequel of Bloodstained ritual of the night, it plays like Portrait of Ruin and it uses mechanics like Simon's Quest, day and night.
