Thanks Bloo, I tried to improve these from whatever I understood from those tutorials. (I ain't from a English speaking country)
Could you please tell me to what specific parts of the sprites were you refering to
when you mentioned blockyness.
I can't decide which palette is the best for Simon?
Honestly I like him more red haired, but last 3 look much better.
I'll probably have to try a few more palettes.

Also, is that sprite sheet that you made based of a Castlevania hack (I think subtitle was Reborn, but I'm not sure)
or did you make these from scratch?
Gotta get away

You guys should really consider helping ShadowOne333 out cause the hack could be really good. I like what he's done so far.

That's the thread for the hack.

Yes, that was based on Reborn, but shading was added and some wonky proportions were fixed.

He looks blocky mostly because of the stiff pose he's in. He needs to be more relaxed so his movement can be more fluid. You need to bring the hips up and fix the proportions on some of your sprites. I can also tell that you're going for a more detail with that style, but don't add to many. It's making your sprites too cluttered, and the details are hard to read. You need to define your muscles, since Simon is supposed to be fucking ripped. Lastly, your choice of colour is hard on the eyes. Try using softer colours, that contrast well but not so much it's painful to the eyes. Oh yeah and never ever ever use a white background ever. Always use a coloured background that contrasts with your sprites. That's about all I have to say. I know this is a little much, so fix one issue at a time. You're really talented for a beginner, more so than I was. Keep it up and you'll be great.

That's really good sprite work. I'd like to see the bloodstained girl in a sprite based game.

For a fangame called Megaman X Synchro. I'll be making a thread soon enough. These are not PD, and do not ask for use.

Just for fun. Feel free to use, but ask permission first, and give credit.

Wanted to practice the SOTN sprite style, so I gave an attempt at spriting Specter Knight in the hopes of getting it done right:

Little after, I thought of trying to sprite the SOTN design for Richter (referenced from that one Richter sprite that has been floating around for a while):

What I have to say about Specter Knight -- it would never fit on SotN as he looks too "bulky". On the other hand, this is pro level spritework. It may not capture SotN's style very well, I believe, but it is a damn fine job on itself.

You did a much better job with Richter, though.

Tried to slim down his proportions some. How is it now?

Looks better but still not quite fitting for the style on SotN, as I perceive it.

There appears to be too many colors in places where there shouldn't be, and his proportions are still off a bit (too big hands, too large wrist-thing). The plates hanging from his hips are a bit too large and bright, too.

It's a bit too hard for me to put into words what I mean but basically, some elements have too many colors/aliasing and the proportions are not exactly there yet.

To put it in simpler terms: SotN uses very high contrast and very few colors outside of specific enemies.

His proportions are a bit too loose and rounded for the style, also. SotN generally keeps very clean, sharp posture and proportions for everything.
