I've always wanted to play this game but could never get it to work on my PC, and it still doesn't work.  I get some Windows error after I pick my character, but I don't know what it says.  :(

What kind of error message is it?

If it can be known, I may be able to help.

This is the error I get.

I've heard you need the japanese language pack installed for it to run, but I can't find anywhere where I can install one that works for Windows 7.

Is it still possible to get this game? I've searched for it but I can't find it.

I'm sorry for reliving such an old thread, no problem? :P

I've checked all the links at the top of the thread. No dice, they all seem to be ca-puts  :(

This site has info about the series: http://dhrkenkyu.ashigaru.jp/series/vbseries.html (http://dhrkenkyu.ashigaru.jp/series/vbseries.html)
I tried running these japanese games with Locale Emulator: https://pooi.moe/Locale-Emulator/. (https://pooi.moe/Locale-Emulator/.)

Vampire Blaze v2's page is down but the download link is still alive: https://yahoo.jp/box/V43RCR (https://yahoo.jp/box/V43RCR)
I could not run it on Win10 though. I heard some games work if you change the language for non-unicode programs in Windows's region settings but I was too lazy to try that.
I always get that same error mentioned above:
Quote
マップファイルが開けませんでした。
アプリケーションを終了します。

Vampire Blaze 3 runs KIND OF fine.
I played it a bit and there was a part with extreme slowdown for no specific reason.
EDIT: it seems to reset my video card everytime I toggle fullscreen (alt+enter), making the action run super slow after that.
The trick is to switch to fullscreen right after launching the game.

There's a comercial version of this game that adds a new under path, with new stages and bosses, if you guys want to try it, just check this link and download the vampireblaze_a.zip file.

Many other Castlevania Fangames. ;-)

I've found this page right after i've readed this topic, tried the alternate path and can say that the stages are pretty nice!

Gives the same error as the other one though.

OK, I was bored and "fixed" it. Now it runs fine on any [modern] Windows version.
It's still broken though. We can even use the executable from Vampire Blaze 3, which is a more recent version of the same crappy engine but the game still doesn't function as expected.

Download it here: Vampire Blaze ver. A (https://jxjjxy-my.sharepoint.com/:u:/g/personal/oi4wl3sx4_t_odmail_cn/Edz64u3NDsFGrYOx0Pd3B30Bvcjo7ZkMtPpO27xC93576A?download=1)

EDIT: The vanilla game runs like garbage probably because Windows 8 and 10 can't handle DirectX 7 properly.

So I found Wine3D (https://fdossena.com/?p=wined3d/index.frag). I included the dlls from version 3.1, which is the latest build that works fine with the game.
It actually makes the game run at full speed and without visual glitches. It lags at some parts for whatever reason but most of the time it runs very smoothly.

it's funny how it has a useless stairs glitch, kinda like the old castlevanias

Which CV game had useless stairs? Was it CVII where there was a section of the map that lead to a dead end?

The glitch is useless, not the stairs

Weird, with me your fixed version don't works, it doesn't shows nothing in fullscreen mode. but the normal one runs perfectly. I'm using windows 10, so maybe there's some conflict or something is missing in your OS

I have an Nvidia graphics card, maybe it's that. The game normally runs at 30FPS or less for no apparent reason.

I'm glad you released a patch for this, I've always wanted to play it, thanks a bunch.  It runs around 40 FPS for me but controls and feels smooth.

Try deleting the dlls from the game's folder to see if it runs better.
