Title: SotN Saturn's port explained (in video)
Post by: Lelygax on October 28, 2016, 07:55:34 AM

This guy explains in a nice way some technical flaws of the Sega Saturn port.
Nothing new for some old users, but its surely more confortable to see a explanation in video instead of reading a huge pile of text.

I find the saturn version to be superior to the original Playstation 1 and Xbox360 versions of SOTN.

and in some ways superior to the PSP DXC version of SOTN as well.

*all 3 characters playable from the start (with the most gorgeous character select screen outside of Castlevania HD.)

* while NITM Maria is OP compared to DXC SOTN Maria, some like her NITM moveset a lot more.

* also Nocturne in the Moonlight is the only version with Richter's proper SOTN era costume/appearance playable

*added locations that expands the map further

the exclusive Sega Saturn SOTN material:

Saturn Enemies & Bosses - 18 enemies were added, 2 of them are bosses (Maria Renard and Skeleton Leader).

Saturn Maps - 4 new areas of the castle were added which contain these new enemies, Cursed Prison, Underground Garden, Soul Prison, and Hell Garden.

Saturn Monster Encyclopedia - The Saturn version has a different Monster Encyclopedia, which includes the new enemies.

Saturn Characters - Maria Renard and Richter Belmont look slightly different.

Saturn Instruction Manual - The complete Instruction Manual for the Sega Saturn version.

Saturn Case & Disc - The Saturn Case & Disc displays different artwork.

 ;D

much of what Saturn version has to itself makes up for its technical flaws.

with added polish it would be the undisputed definitive version.

Yeah I like it too, Cursed Prison gave me the creeps at the time because of the Specters being so powerful at the beggining xD
Its a shame that they didn't put enough effort into it to use all Saturn's capabilities right.

I have mad respect for the two of you after saying that. SSOTN is my favourite version of the game.

Don't forget it has more tracks due to the additional areas and the audio quality of the OST in game sounds louder and clear to me. Plus a couple of tracks that never made the PSX version.

Also I like Richter's alternate Sprite.

I really don't know how they could've left it out from the PSP version, blasphemy.

Probably because it sounds very similar to the encounter theme from Final Fantasy VII.

Which one? This?

I've seen people saying it sounds like Soul Calibur, but this comparation is new to me (and aren't so similiar IMO).

That's the one. As for the Soul Calibur part, that's one I'm not familiar with.
