well 2nd season pass, they should prioritizing Maria being playable in Dissidia FF NT. she pioneered bow specialist in FF series, the first powerful female party member in the series, and practically the more other heroines and the only deuteragonist in the mainline series.

Did you guys know her VA is Kotono Mitsuishi? Might have been mentioned already but as the kids say thats Kind Of A Big Deal tm and all.

Hehehe yes! JP twitter was geeking out and making Sailor Moon memes about it for awhile. Not just any senshi but THE senshi, probably the most iconic female character of the now-vintage anime era, I would think? Pretty awesome they gave her someone that famous as a voice.

the first powerful female party member in the series, and practically the more other heroines

if this is saying maria is more "powerful" than other female protags--terra, rydia, garnet, eiko, fran, krile, faris, celes, fang, rosa, rinoa, selphie (seriously, The End), (technically) edea, beatrix, yuna, shantotto, and whoever else i'm forgetting would all like to have a word with you, since every one of these women has a lot more power than simply being a badass with a bow--shit, hilda's arguably more "powerful" than maria on account of having the skills necessary to run an entire revolutionary operation

but as far as being the first goes, maria definitely got the ball rolling for all the rest

Quote
the only deuteragonist in the mainline series

this statement is highly debatable depending on the context in which you're using the term "deuteragonist"--the most literal definition would render said statement very, very untrue, since there are instances of antagonists also operating as the deuteragonist in the plot (kefka and especially sephiroth come to mind)

also

>kotono mitsuishi

Um you have to consider that Maria is capable of mastering all weapons and all magic.    and she is no less powerful than Firion, Guy and Leon, especially when they fought Hell Emperor at the top of Castle Pandemonium.

Maria would mop the floor with Terra.  FFVI characters do not have weapon masteries.  well yes, they can summon Espers,
but Maria can become so powerful, that Esper power is trivial compared to the raw capabilities FFII's main characters can achieve in the gameplay and lore.

now Esper form Terra, it could be debatable.  Terra can become really powerful and lore wise, she can fly too.  so ok, let's just let it be a tie.

Rydia is a summoner, but even like Seifer proven in FF8, even powerful summons can fall to raw physical damage.
so I feel Maria could defeat Rydia with all sorts of builds, plus FFII magic is a game changer and can level beyond any other Final Fantasy magic spells.

Garnet and Eiko. same case. she has powerful summons, but Maria and friends destroyed entities that rival even summons (like Astaroth).

Fran can use espers, but combat wise, she really doesnt have any more advantage than Maria at her peak.  though Viera do have physical advantages, shes in for a tough fight against Maria, even with Fran at her best.

Celes is weaker than Terra at her most powerful, Maria can solo Hell Emperor, and physically Maria has the range advantage too, even if we were to negate spell advantages.

Rosa, Rinoa...... they can be powerful, but Maria can defeat them even with mastered fists and magic build.

Selphie is broken with that limit break, but the thing is, chances are Maria can destroy Selphie before Selphie even gets her ultimate limit break.  the only way Selphie could win is via a fluke.  that limit break has a very low % of appearing.

Edea is not up to Maria's top level.   Beatrix. hahahaha. no.  Beatrix doesnt stand a chance.
Yuna, well her X-2 version can be pretty formidable.  I would say it could be a tie.   Shantotto. ok it would be a tough fight.

but saying Hilda is more powerful.  let's be serious, Hilda would have been defeated by Emperor's forces if it wasnt for the FFII heroes, including Maria.

and 1 on 1, Maria can destroy Hilda and her whole army.

we are talking 100% potential Maria here.  She can rival or surpass other characters in the series.
she isnt simply a bow user. Maria is just as capable of defeating all adversity and becoming super powerful.
and she can easily reach broken OP tier like certain other characters can.  :)

if you still think Maria is just a badass with a bow, I recommend researching FFII and what she and the other characters are fully capable of.
FFII masteries system is one of a kind in the series, magic can be leveled beyond other FFs wildest dreams, and anyone can master every weapon,
being able to destroy enemies before they even get a turn, and be next to invincible.

Maria is also the strongest spiritually.  other female characters go absent for a time (practically every other female character in the series),
others gave up until someone motivated her to fight on (Terra),
whereas Maria was fighting through the entire adventure alongside the protagonist and never gave up.

the only female character that fought as much or more than Maria did, was Lightning, however Lightning was not even consistent in her active role until Lightning Returns.  in XIII-1, Lightning was sometimes the protagonist, and other times the baton is handed to someone else (and it was not Lightning narrating the story, it was Vanille!  lol.  even Serah got to narrate her own adventure, though Lightning did get some narration in XIII-2 and LR was all hers).

FOR THE COURTESY OF EVERYONE WHO ISN'T AFFINITY, THIS IS BEING PUT IN SPOILER TAGS, ALL THE REST OF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS MEANS, OPEN AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION BECAUSE IF YOU DO I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THIS FUCKING THING

(click to show/hide)

TL;DR might wanna choose your battles more carefully in the future, affinity, especially if the battle consists of "who can make the bigger post" because that's more or less my fucking playground

I don't mind big posts, and I get the feeling you were being a little tongue in cheek, but maybe you could take it down a notch, Dracula. I get you're a huge FF fan, but we're all here to enjoy ourselves, so there's no need to really get angry if someone might be wrong about the games or whatever. Just try to keep things, if not cordial, at least respectful, that's all I ask :)

with respect gunny i've done exactly that basically every time this little attitude of hers gets pulled and it's done nothing, and since it's basically just being allowed to happen i opted to change the approach for a one-time instance to see if it does anything

as i'm sure you can understand i take a small bit of exception to this kind of behavior from her being basically tolerated by the people it bothers, but all those past instances of me saying the fuck word a few times too many in someone's direction (many times where it was in some capacity deserved/earned) and i'd spend weeks/months afterward in the stocks at midday as the social pariah

i'm not denying partiality but i'd like to think i have good reason on this considering all the other shit that's gone down before doesn't get told to go down a notch, but when i go off as a result i'm the asshole

D9: Affinity has the immovable object and trollmeister awards. She won't budge. No compromises.
You're just wasting time, D9. That's the lesson I got from previous debates. I'm too tired of this already. Hence, toleration or ignoring, whichever comes first.

Affinity: Maybe in the future, at least add the (in my opinion) part in your posts. That might help stop the debates.

And of all the f*king things..,. FF again!?!!

That's why I hate this character is better than that character posts.  :(

yeah because usually it doesn't even do any good to compare peeps from entirely different worlds with entirely different rules, but at least the comparisons can be a bit of fun if the people debating it can actually approach it rationally

EDIT: just so i'm clear on something

this is unnecessary, i know it's her opinion

it's the immediate "yeah well haha no fuck you you don't know what you're talking about you should play the game more" response to otherwise harmless and unantagonistic counters to a proposed point that piss me off, and it's this behavior basically just getting swept under the rug and allowed to happen "because it's affinity" is what pisses me off more

you all know damn well what the general board reaction was all the past times i pulled shit like that, so why the fuck is it okay when she does it? is it those awards? did all i need all those other times was merely a couple of little sprites that seem to act as "being an asshole will now be ignored and allowed to happen" medals? 'cause fuck me if so i'd have asked someone to nominate me for them ages ago if that's the case

I personally feel that someone winning an award for bad behaviour only encourages said behaviour more then before. There are many historical/recent cases of this happening and it isn't a good thing in either the long or short runs. It merely feeds the individual's ego rather then suppressing it.

Pssst... pssssst...

Not all awards are good.
They give people an insight as to the person, though.
An artist might have a few awards for it.  That one that posts lots of news would be another.  The old person from the old forums has one too.
