The only time I ever used the knife was in CV II, and it was the golden knife to boot! That sucker was the shit and it made Dracula shit too  ;D

maybe make it so its not so easy to get whip power ups

like

25 hearts - get chain whip

50 hearts - get long chain whip

dagger subweapon is useful in harmony of despair

That can work too. Plus it would make you stand on edge a little more since you won't just get them easily.

Btw, I do rember the knife in HOD now that you mention it.

I'm going to treat this the same way I do with remakes of movies. I love the original, but I'm not opposed to a new vision. That said, if there are parts that require the 8 way whip to progress, there would have to be background tiles added most likely. I would play this, but really, can't you just play it without actually using the 8 way?

Sadly no. The clocktower stage prevents this entirely.
