I heard that there's a patch that can replace the art with the PS2 remade ones, I wonder if it'll work with this version...
Also, does the same kind of patch exist for Umineko?

About Higurashi I've heard that a patch like that exist, about Umineko I can fully guarantee that this patch exists and add CG images and voices from the PS3 version also, you can find it *here* (http://uminekofix.wikia.com/wiki/Tweaking_Umineko_Wiki).

There you can find everything about the patch, like links, how to install and how their progress is going. I've not used it yet, since I like the original graphics and a long time have passed since the last time that I had a chance to play it :P

Yes, I dont know the correct % progress, but they seem to be almost done.
