Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin custom Richter hack (V1.2a)

Hi :D, this is a ROM hack of Castlevania Portrait of Ruin that I made. It replaces all of Richter's sprites with Serio's custom Richter sprites. So now you can play as the coated SotN Richter on PoR.

List of changes:

-Replaced all of Richter's sprites with Serio's custom Richter sprites, of course.
-Changed Richter's whip graphic.
-Fixed the "RICHITER" and "CHAROTTE" typos.

EDIT: I have updated the hack.
List of changes:

-Changed Richter's coat color to a darker blue.
-Changed the enemy and player's blood color from orange to red.
-Updated Richter's portrait.
-Modified the Lilith/Succubus' sprites and palettes.
-Changed Jonathan's whip graphic.
-Renamed a few enemies.
-Changed Richter's cross and holy water subweapons graphics.
-Fixed Richter's status effect palettes.

EDIT: UPDATE V1.2

-Resized a few of Richter's frame, now Serio's Richter sprites are properly inserted.
So, this:
He's basically copy pasting the frames over the originals. He isn't able to change the size of the frames.
is not true anymore.
-Changed Richter's palettes.
-Fixed Richter's limp running animation
-Fixed the status effect palettes of all characters.
-And some other minor fixes.

EDIT: UPDATE V1.2a
-Changed Richter's coat color and added some colors to his hands instead of just black.

Note: The patch will only work on the US version of the game (the version where Richter's name was mistyped as RICHITER).
The patch is in .ppf format,
use PPF-O-Matic to apply the patch to your game/ROM.

Feel free to leave comments.
Enjoy the hack! :)

I've got your patch operational, but I've noticed that in the background and occasionally some of the animated sprites, I see Richter's sprites interfearing with they should not be apart of. I would check out the playable Richter but i have to wait while I finish the normal game first. Stupid finicky emulator seems to have a problem loading up save states...grumble.

That happens if you patched it to other versions than the US version. Make sure your game code is ACBE, you can check the game code using the DeSmuME emu by clicking on the ROM info.

BTW, you don't need to play and finish the game to play as Richter, you can just download the saves from GameFAQs and import it to the DeSmuME emulator. That way will save your time from playing through a slow emulator.

Yeah, I'm not using DeSmuME. I've been using NO$GBA. I've tried to use DeSmuME but I just couldn't figure it out.

Wow! This is a better Richter Belmont than the original design.

I bet its taken from Castlevania Symphony of the Night Richter Belmont, right?

Somewhat.  The spritesheet is one based on the Symphony of the Night Richter Ayami Kojima character design, but it is a fan spritesheet, not an official Konami one.  So it's not 'taken' from any of the games.

Yeah, I think Serio did a great job updating the sprites, it is looking better than the original one now. It looks very good on the DS lite screen.

I'm sorry if this is considered a thread necromancy, but I feel the need to tell people that I have updated the hack.

Check my first post for the list of changes and the download link.

And as always, comments are welcomed. :)

If you are able to put that richter in there then might as well put PSP Sotn Maria in there.

Those sprites might not fit properly in young Maria's sprite, but I agree if you changed Richter to his SotN form you should try to do something with Maria too.

I would If I could. But the PSP SotN Maria sprites are too big to fit in there.

He's basically copy pasting the frames over the originals. He isn't able to add, delete, or change the size of the frames.

Exactly. But I'd be more than happy if someone could teach me how to do that.
