March 2016 Sprite contest idea

I've been thinking a lot about the vaguely included part of Iga's CV timeline that covers the events of bram stokers Dracula. More specially, I've been thinking about how awesome this would of been as a game. In many ways I find it more interesting than the 1999 concepts.

Dracula being hunted in London... Mina being courted by the count. It's a very different scenario than the typical CV game and it could have made for an amazing CV game.

My proposal for March is to take a character from Bram
Stokers Dracula and make a sprite out of it.

Im extremely interested in seeing Quincey Morris as he is Iga's chosen protagonist to defeat Dracula.

So we could get specific and ask just for Quincey. But I would like to leave it open to any character from the book. A vampiric Lucy, Van Helsing... There are some awesome options there.

What do you guys think?

March is already halfway done. Your idea must be for April or any of the succeeding months.
Cool suggestion, btw.
I also have a suggestion in the short story thread. If we need new awards for that new contest, this could be a theme for a sprite contest.

Made one Quincy Morris just for kicks. With and without a hat.

I might do one more. I think this one is too generic.

I blew my chance at the contest, didn't I?

Damn dude. This looks perfect! Great job!

Maybe we could make the deadline April 30th but start taking entries now?
There's so much to work with people might like the extra time.

Ever think about adapting the story to the CV universe Plot?

Maybe one day this idea could become a real fan game. Dracula on the move in London and being hunted would be crazy. It'd be a game with multiple Dracula battles.

Haha. There is certainly a lot of fat that could be cut.

It's too bad Bram Stoker didn't just hire Franz Kafka to write it for him.

But hey... Dracula is certainly worth the read and the first few chapters are great. It's the mid section of the book that drags on.

I imagine that a CV version of the story would be a pretty fresh take on it. The CV universe could use that section being fleshed out better.

No, not the novel, I mean the god-awful game and its equally awful ports.

Ohhh! HA!

You know, it's a little bit ridiculous that I never owned or played that game. I remember almost getting it on Sega CD or something but I remember my brother saying it was bad. He must of read reviews in Nintendo Power or EGM or something.

I'm thinking about possible other characters and villains/bosses that could appear in a game like this. I'm totally seeing Jack the Ripper in there. What would the subtitle be for the CV take on Stoker's Dracula?

Still though, if I could build a time machine and somehow take the idea for Dracula away from Stoker and put it into the mind of Kafka... I think we would have a far superior novel.

I have, though I think people would dislike my headcanon greatly because it tries its darndest to fit into Castlevania, and not so much for respecting Bram Stoker's original.

The characters themselves (Mina, Lucy, Arthur Holmwood, Dr. Seward, Renfield) would mostly be there, with the spotlight on Quincy and a Lecarde -- possibly a new character. But the plot would take major turns from Bram Stoker's, starting with Van Helsing, who would be primarily a seasoned vampire hunter, and expanding/changing a little the roles of the other characters.

There would also be the acquiring of estates as a plot point, but it would not be by Dracula nor by the reasons on the novel. Castlevania's Dracula is a genocidal demon lord. He has no interest in "acquiring estates" to play cat and mouse when he has a demonic castle filled with traps to do it.  Though other parties have uses for acquiring estates to further their agenda of reviving him.

I see this story as I see 1999. Two big holes offering seas of opportunity for the series.

I can see it now...

Vlad Dragwyla was an ordinary man, until one fateful night when he was bitten by a demon of the night.

Now, he wanders the countryside preying upon the innocent, feeding upon that which his victims subsist upon.

He is...Count Roachula, the scourge of Romanian kitchens everywhere!

Here is one variation. I gave him colors more akin to the clothing he's wearing at the end of Coppola's movie.

This conversation isn't going anywhere....

Proposal: Why don't we run a short story sprite contest in April alongside the short story contest itself? The sprite contest will end earlier than the short story contest, so that once the short story contest ends, we already have the award sprites.
