Well instead of stealing the main "remix" sticky's thunder, i figured I'd give that thread a break, and create another topic thread. Ive been experimenting with my musical tools for a little while now, ive been trying to capture the feel of the Old Sega Genesis of lately, I must blame Jorge and his fantastic downsample music for rekindling that love for the retro sounding music, tho I do not claim to be a good as Jorge, he does inspire me to do this kind of work, for that I'd tip my hat, (if i was wearing one) to him. anyways onto the show. the Drac X fire is also a Nod to Jorge's current visualizer

lament of innocence (Leon's theme)

Reincarnated Soul

Opposing Bloodlines

The Colossus v2

Sonic 3D Blast Boss 2 music resynth

The Colossus

This one is dedicated to Jorge, for his Rendoration of the Dracula XX map theme:

Where would a guy start if he wanted to do something like this? I been itching to make music a long time but since I can't play an instrument (yet) I wanted to start by using software. I guess I can understand things better on paper or on my screen and thought maybe learning music on my pc might be a great starting point before moving to an actual instrument.

I know of software and have toyed with different programs some but didn't really understand it much. Is there a more simplified piece of software that would make a better starting point?

These are all midis, then the the instruments are changed, then its fed to a synthasizer, and the end result is this, mind you the synth has multiple soundfonts to choose from, ive been most fond of attempting to remake Sega Genesis music, sometimes I will use the GSXX with my altered midi's to get an 8-bit sound, or something i'll get the same effect via synth. alot of my programs are very, old, windows 95/98 old, lol

Eg: Commodore 64 Castlevania: Jorge is into the retro chiptune sounding music, heh

But to be fair, to start off, use a program that can edit midis, thats how i start off with something, then when i goes through a another program to make it into an MP3, its resnythed using a choice of instruments, sometimes it'll turn out bad, others ok, its all trial an error for me
