Hirooka Masaki did great work for OoE and I think he is the best contender to return for a new and 'properly made' CV game. Unlike Kojima, Masaki doesn't exaggerate style and saturate the CV fandom with the pretty boy look. Instead he balances everything out by having the entire human spectrum shown in his work; Very refreshing to see. Both Shanoa and Laura the Jeweler I felt look awesome. If he were to become the mainstay of Castlevania art as Kojima had for a while before him, then I would have no complaints. His look has the anime touch, but is also realistic at the same time. It works and works well. I did find it strange at first but then it grew on me very quickly. More-so then Kojima's work as the pretty boys keep distracting me in a bad way *COUGH-Issac-COUGH*  :P

I have a team of man-woman that I've seen realized in VG's too few times, for my taste.
It's the super Conan-like hero with a sweet princess-like anime girl. Or something like that.
Recent games like The Last Of Us and Bioshock Infinite feature a super strong, rude yet good man side by side with a sweet girl.
That would be my ideal in CV too.
Think of it as Julius in his prime + Charlotte.
Or New Trevor + RoB Maria.
Or Leon Belmont + Carrie.
With dual crushes and all that stuff.
Now I'm tired, eternally walking... forever dying, and never stopping. I feel in sorrow, all I see is white. I’m following a blind way beneath a sad sky.

Does the Pope protect pedophiles?

Hellz yeah I wish he'd take another stab at CV. His style was truly a breath of fresh air. Not too gritty, but not too cartoony. No generic male and female expressions and poses.

Yeah... I didn't mean it like that, I don't know if you are joking, I hate that kind of people; I meant it exactly as in The Last Of Us and Bioshock Infinite.
A strong, wise, rude but good man protecting a young woman, and that can also be a perfect combination of the warrior type who kicks ass with a witch type who uses spells.
Imagine Portrait of Ruin but Julius instead of Jonathan, or a CV game that is an escort mission like in Ico, where you are someone powerful like Trevor protecting a girl like Carrie who can also use magic to help you.
Also, I like to think of me as a defenseless girl, and I'd like to use magic in a fictional world, and be protected by a warrior.
If I were to make a couple in THAT way I'd say what I said in that topic we had some time ago about CV pairings.
And you can be sure that my perfect selection would be 2 women, because, I don't know if you are aware of that, but I prefer women.
If you did mean it as a joke, my apologies for answering in a kind of rude way.

I just made a variation of "Does a bear poop in the woods". I didn't even read the responses before this, so it had nothing to do with anything anyone said in this thread  :P

Oh, I see...
I'm glad because I like you. I felt misunderstood in what I said.
Anyway, this last 2 weeks life has been hard on me and I'm a little irritable and over sensitive.
I'm sorry if you felt attacked. If I'm a little annoying and overdramatic I will take a few days off. I don't want to cause inconvenience to anyone.

I wasn't aware of that phrase about the bear. Now that I Googled I see it means a obvious yes answer to any question.
I'm a catholic person, but I'm also open minded and I can see the humour in your variation.
I know about church, but I believe the current Pope is a great human being who is making very important changes in catholicism as an institution.
In Italy there's a huge revolution in catholic people going on because of Francisco, and he's been recently to Brazil where hundreds of thousands of people acclaimed him. He is against some authoritary goverments in the world and is doing a lot of caritative action, and changing many milenary rules and traditions about the Vatican.

Anyway, let's not make this a thread about religion. The priest in my town wouldn't let me into church if he knew what kind of anime I watch  :P
Please don't mind me, stay on topic, I'm a huge derailer and I don't make it on purpose, it's just the way I am.

All things considered, I rather enjoy being distracted by Kojima's pretty boys...
Not that I'm abnormally interested in manly qualities -- it's simply that Kojima's artwork possesses such a considerable degree of artistry that I've never quite seen its equal elsewhere. You could stare at any one of her drawings for hours, thinking, "this... is art". Something you couldn't really do with most other game designs. Kojima's art will impress on its own, without the game that inspired it -- that's what I most respect.
As for realism... You're looking at a game where someone uses a metal whip to destroy mythical monsters and impale Dracula. It's hardly realist in the first place. So, while we're at it, why not go with beautiful heroes rather than scraggly old men?  ;D

But otherwise I agree with you -- OoE was certainly refreshing to see. And I'd be the last one to complain if Masaki became as mainstream as Kojima was.

But Isaac? Whatever was wrong with Isaac? He was so extraordinarily... perfect. How... how can one not appreciate his exquisite beauty?  :'(
But in all fairness, I really don't believe I've seen a Castlevania as perfectly designed as CoD (character-wise, of course. The rest was a different story).

Huh, different strokes for different folks, I guess, though I believe this is the time where I stop worrying about being rude and ask you Professor Oak's classic question, lest I may have horrible misconceptions about you.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

Ah no, there's no need for misconceptions here... This has nothing to do with any particular interest in manly qualities, if I haven't already made it clear. It seems this thread is bound to bring up questions like these. Here, you're just looking at a fan who loves Kojima's artistic style, and enjoys writing about it.
And Isaac? Didn't the emoticon make it clear that I was, well, joking?

Ah, my apologies. Even though I saw the emoticon, for some reason the fujoshi warning still blared in my head. Now that everything's cleared up, let's get back to the topic on hand, shall we?

I have no problems with him back as the concept artist for the next Castlevania.
I still have a place in my heart for Kojima's artwork. Though, I have to admit that I was shocked when Isaac was unveiled. I didn't expect Konami to give it a go!

Only if those beautiful heroes are women  ;)

In terms of Issac it's primarily how he was dressed. He was a pretty boy far too out of his own time. You don't find pants like that in 1479 as the technique to make them did not exist (yeah I'm grasping at straws but I stand firm on this). Also his final actions towards Trevor after stabbing him (the kiss on the cheek) is definitely not something I would attribute to Castlevania. Flame mentioned once that it may have been a sort of 'f**k you' to the helpless hero, but I can't help feel that it something other then that. Its all just really 'iffy' in my mind and detracts from what CV has always been for me. It is one of the reasons why I feel that CoD isn't a good CV game.

I thought his creepy, rape-y undertones with how he interacts with Hector and Trevor made him more of an effective villain. He was pretty much a male succubus.

Exactly. He was perfectly adapted for the role he played in Curse of Darkness. That's what I like most about the game: everything from the plot, the characters, the design, the voices -- they all fit in perfectly.
And Isaac certainly looked good. That you can't deny.

Isaac was quite the character. His appearance and voice were androgynous in a creepy way. And gotta love those laughs and shrieks.

Perfect candidate for a Castlevania musical, if there's ever gonna be one.
