I think so too. Unfortunately rescuing Maria is a little more then 2/3's into the game so by the time you do rescue her, there's no point, lol. Although rescuing her early-on would allow her as more of a playable character. SNES Dracula X was also a shorter game in that, unlike Rondo, you can't go back to a specific stage
True, true. But she could have been unlockable from the start of the next game. I realise that XX is still password based, but they could have included an option for a Maria campaign, which would have been cool because they could have replaced saving Maria with saving someone else, or the door of the room she's in leading directly to 5' 2.
Even if you couldn't swap between the 2 characters like you could in ROB, it would have been an awesome touch.
I remember someone (I believe it was Nagumo) sourcing an interview about ROB, stating that during the game's development it was "around 5 times as hard as the final version". I wonder if this is the case, whether any of the difficulty transferred to XX.
