This was fun to watch...but it kinda makes me feel old. :-/ :-)
TEENS REACT TO NINTENDO (NES) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDOZbvE01Fk#ws)
There's also one where they play Mike Tyson's Punch Out!

lol! Those were fun to watch! Especially when they tried Punch out. Mike Tyson, God! One hit KO. Talk about brutal ???
-
Do teens today really not know about this kinda stuff? Heck is that how people dress these day?
-
Yes...yes they do. I've worked in a high school recently. Dress style varies quite a bit, but there are kids dressed like this!
-

Actually when you think about it, what they're wearing is not all that dissimilar from how teens dressed in the 80's. The finer points are different but the main aspect is still there; T-shirts, ball caps, etc.

I was the same way once. Before watching AVGN's review on pre-Atari 2600 era I had no idea that video games actually started back in 72'. It was very informative.
-
Personally, I'd like to see more of these "retro reviews"...this was pretty entertaining. I had to suggest a few titles in hopes that they might actually use them!
-
I loved the geek with the braces and the acne. He's like a perfect gamer stereotype.
And these teens really do look like they walked straight out of The Breakfast Club.

meah, kids these days no respect....lol
Anyways you can tell who aren't the posers there because they miss like everything on the level..
-
Yeah I've been wearing the same style for years. Also I have older brothers so I knew what all these game systems were. I guess I'm out of the loop
-
Yeah...there were a few who clearly knew what they were doing, even if they didn't do it as well as those of us who grew up with it. Then there were those who were clueless! Like the one girl who suddenly realized, "I have an iPhone case like this!" How do you have the case and still have no clue about this stuff!? X-D
I realize this is probably not what he meant, but when the one kid asked if anyone had beaten that level yet, I couldn't help but laugh as if he were asking if anyone ever had beaten it since it was first released back in the 80's! He probably meant it about the other teens...but it's funnier my way! ;-P

I thought it was crazy that in the first video, more of them had heard of Metroid than Zelda.
-
I have to wonder why that is?.. Both Metroid and Zelda were hugely popular back in their NES days and still are now. Maybe it was a demograph thing, I don't know.
-
The video is fun to watch and I hope they'll feature more retro games in the future.
I also felt old after watching...
-
Bwahahaha!!!
Reminds me of this time I made me ex-girlfriend's daughter play CV1.
I want to see these kids play CV1 so CV1 can WRECK their gaming self-esteem.
Then make them play Ninja Gaiden so they can feel weak and helpless in the face of insurmountable odds.
=D
-
I did suggest CV 1 or 3, among a small handful of other good titles!
-
Did you throw in a suggestion for Contra? I'd love to see that!
-
:-S No...I didn't even think of that! That would have been a good one.
I suggested Legend of Zelda, CV 1 or 3, Mario 2 or 3, Gauntlet, Final Fantasy (to cover some "classic" titles)
Battletoads, Snake Rattle 'n' Roll, Kickle Cubicle, Kid Icarus ("odd" games, though Battletoads is kindof a classic)
Techmo Bowl (To cover sports)
-
Well there's over 800 NES titles not counting games never released outside of Japan. They've got plenty of material to cover and then it's on to the next retro console.
-
Every time I see one of these videos I wonder what sheltered private/artsy school they auditioned these kids from—this isn't the standard.
Unless of course somebody can convince me none of them have seen the inside of a Hot Topic.
I'm going to be seeing this British girl in my nightmares.

When I was a young teen, I remember anything that had been out for more than 3 months was "old", and therefore not cool anymore, at least not among the types who were obsessed with pop culture. Hipsters and gamers might be an exception, but I've met few retro gamers outside of the internet, and they were all older than I am (29). I'm sure those kids have been to a Hot Topic at some point, but that doesn't mean that they're gonna know what that Triforce t-shirt on the wall is in reference to.
-
One of the girls is from Game of Thrones but I'm not sure about the others
-
I think some of this is scripted, retro is all around with adults, surely these kids have/had been exposed to it before. My nephews when they were little runts would watch me play Mega Man, and knew exactly who he was already. And this was maybe 9 years ago or so.
-
I dunno...it seems fairly genuine. I'm sure it depends a bit on the circles you run in. The one kid said his brother just bought an NES...I think there was another one or two that said they'd seen or played one before.

The British girl is from Game of Thrones Ayra Stark IIRC.
Also since Halloween is coming castlevania is a must we all should band up and tell em.
