...hack a Lydie Mode into a Harmony of Dissonance ROM?

For argument's sake, let's say she would implemented as a heavily modified Rondo Maria sprite (lol When Birds Attack).

Why would someone make a hack of an absolutely useless character?

Mina Hakuba deserves it more, even! :P

if an absolutely useless character such as charlotte can be a main character of a commercial game, why not? ;D

an absolutely useless character

Mina Hakuba

wut.

Lydie had a specific function of giving Juste and Maxim (when he wasn't being crazy) a common goal, and her being captured was at least a coherent excuse to force Juste to explore the second castle.

Mina is the one does nothing, even after two games.

Yeah using books to attack wasn't the best idea. Swords coming out of books just don't look cool. She shouldv'e been like sypha that would have kicked ass, have different changeable weapons and use the books to just caste spells like sypha does in CVIII.

i meant more as an overall thing. charlotte was just a decoration meant to be there just to look pretty. no part of the storyline was about her, she was just an addon, a tool to help move one or two scenes forward.

other than that she was on the level of vincent, as in a comical relief character. but then again, half of the cast of that game were comical relief characters, main hero included. :o

books can be used better too. cyrille in shining force exa also uses books to fight, but instead of that silly copout they did in pork she hits physically and combos with them, and as either a finisher/special attack or spell attack she casts spells from them, with each book having different sets of spells.

Yeah I agree, you could choose to play as her though. (and die horribly)

Nah, Charlotte can hold her own (believe me I've played the game with just her).  Just have to choose the right spell.

I would rather see a sprite hack for a better Juste. Or Jorge to finish the CV4 Simon sprites in HoD style. That was the greatest idea ever.

Yet again, unrealistic, unappealing proportions.
