Well, it's possible that they may do modern time de-powered Dracula so there is an excuse for an actual game and not just "Lol I'm Dracula game over"
Excuse, sure, but it's still a cheapo way of doing things. It's the generic sequel concept where, while in the previous installment, you've attained some sort of badass powers, the next one does that "Yeah, all those powers you had, they're gone now! Time to build yourself up again!!!". That's a horrid cliche. But even more so horrible because this is Dracu-fuckin-LA! Why would I want to play as a feeble vampire lord who can't break barrels or who adds to list that one of his vampire weaknesses is "falling from heights". Yeah.... no thank you. Might as well make him sparkle in the sunlight!
I'm sorry if this offends anybody, but my god, I just find it ridiculously stupid having a vampire that must be "careful not to fall" because he'll DIE. The thought of a vampire falling off a cliff like Wile E Coyote just makes me laugh and cry at the same time, especially if that vampire is supposed to be the most badass one in the CV world.
The only way I'd be fine with this is if after Dracula falls to his death, a subtitle comes on screen and you hear Patrick Stewart say, "This really did not happen. Dracula can't fall in such a meager way....", then you see a close-up of the corpse and it has YOUR face on it, and Patrick continues, "It's you!! YOU'RE the one that SUCKS!!!", then "Game Over".
Though, the right way to do it, IMO, is to KNOW that Dracula's not the same Gabriel of the first game, and admit everything's going to be different because of that. Switch up the play mechanic, no more fall damage, no more shimmying. There could be other obsticles(new obsticles do to the new way of playing), but trying to replicate the LoS's play style simply for those comfortable with it, I just don't see that as beneficial. They can keep combos, though maybe make enemies weaker(because Dracula's a BEAST), which IMO was always something I thought they SHOULD'VE done since the first game. Make more verticle areas, make Dracula jump higher, glide or such, and if he DOES fall off areas, he isn't damaged by the fall but carefully placed traps(spikes and such). No bullshit "C'mon weak Drac, time to search the world and regain ALL your powers again so you could fight Satan in the epic final battle".
