This pretty much cancels out any possibility of there being prequels with past Belmonts now. Lords of Shadow 3 wouldn't make sense either. At all, prequel or sequel. Mercury Steam really did close the book.

Because it brings everything full circle and really drives it home the LoS series is all about Gabriel/Dracula. LoS3 doesn't need to happen or be a prequel, because we already know the lore.

It eliminates the possibility of Belmont prequels too since Gabe would be asleep for 1000 years. Who would the Belmonts fight? Another game without Dracula doesn't interest me at all. I guess that's why they put the Belmont Lineage section in the Journal too.

By prequel I meant before LoS1, not between MoF and LoS2. It was obvious they didn't intend anything else from MoF to LoS2.

Rinaldo Gandolfi, the inventor of the combat cross, the protagonist. The big twist would be the founders of the Brotherhood becoming the Lords of Shadow to also protect humanity from the Forgotten One/Satan. Obviously it all goes wrong and that leads up to the events of LoS1.
