Paavo!  There's a name I haven't heard in a while.  How're they?

The game of life, aka nothing.

Awaiting some more Famicom, PS1 Goemon trilogy (they came in a bundle, I already own of them), a PS2 Soul Caliburing experience of the third kind, and some Game Boy titles to arrive off Ebay. I will hit the 1,345 game mark by the time they all arrive.

For sure the Game Boy games I want to play in my Super Game Boy, both Momotaro Dengeki 1, and Momotaro Dengeki 2, and the third PS1 Goemon game, aka Oedo Daikaiten (this one will have one bit that WILL trip me up, getting a pass to leave town, and it's a puzzle with a ghost town that is tricky to know what to do as there is no English FAQ for the game).

Social media has actually killed business at some boards, but places like Shmups forum has a lot of old farts that still prefer the medium of the messageboard, though it's Discord kind of went weird, so I left it, now leaving me at 12 Discords, a majority I barely visit. Thankfully the messageboard didn't go gaga.  It took me a number of years to get into any kind of social media, and of course it was Facebook, no thanks to Paavo for that one (:P), and I met a ton of old classmates there (and I do mean old, one is a friend of mine since our kindergarten year in 1980).

Social media, and the coof of 2020 (Nevar 4get) have turned people into assholes outside of the internet, I work retail, trust me, I have noticed.

I don't remember when I hit 4444, but I also post way less frequently, being busy with work, and busy game collecting when I can, can do that to a person, as well as watching a ton of Youtube retro game videos, and carousing other forums (and barely posting at those, haven't joined a new forum since Atari Age, and even that was ages ago). Hell I know one thread at Sega 16 forums that people just count to however high they can, one number higher than the previous poster, just to boost post count.

The N64 controls are pretty good all things considered. The one area where it lacked was in camera controls; LOD kinda rectified that by having a free camera, but it's tied to the D-pad and as such, is pretty much useless.

I think Nightdive Studios would be perfect for remastering the N64 Castlevanias as one game. They combined content from the PC and N64 versions of Forsaken, and restored unused content in Shadowman. They also recently made Quake II a much better game than it was originally, with some nice QOL improvements. I think they could do the games justice by featuring all of the unique content from each game, including some regional variations like Gilles de Rais' voice during the final fight in the throne room of the PAL version.

That would be far preferable to me than simply slapping the ROMs on a subscription service.

Ooops! A bug newly happened by plugin swaps is found out of nowhere and freaked me out for several days. Fixed.

Subtle maintenance (mainly about improving loading time between scene transition)

That I can agree on. It certainly had better platforming than both Lament of Innocence & Curse of Darkness (I personally wouldn’t compare it to the Lords of Shadow games, though, for all its flaws LoS1 was still a pretty polished game. MercurySteam had some talented programmers on their team). Despite my opinion a re-release for the Switch would be welcomed, otherwise I can’t imagine playing through it today with those awful N64 controllers

I can’t answer that but what I do know is, CV64 was an obnoxious game. Not super difficult but just annoying to finish, at least for me.
I'm not saying that it's a perfect game, but it got ok reviews when it first came out. Castlevania 64 has a unique atmosphere, and deserves to be made available just as much as the other Castlevania games(they're wayyy better then the Lords of Shit games.
