Although Soma is said to be Japanese, due to in game sprites, artwork, and the fact that it just seems out of place in the Castlevania universe, does anybody else personally perceive him as being Caucasian?

Yeah, but what about all the other pics where he doesn't look bad ass? And according to the game, he is Japanese.

It was only translated like that. They thought we couldn't handle playing as some japanese guy with super powers.

When did it say he was Japanese?  I remember it saying he was studying abroad or something.

Uh huh. Like that isn't what all teenage Japanese boys dream of looking like? Please, the only super power anyone looking like that in Japan at that age would possess is the ability to instantly go erect and come all over themselves when they looked in the mirror.

"Cruz" is just a thematic transliteration of his Japanese surname, Kurusu (来須).

I registered just for this.
Well, if he's Japanese, it explains why the game intro listed Mina to be his childhood friend. Didn't any of you wonder about that?

Not really, plenty of kids grow up in foreign military bases or there parents just live abroad, for business and other reasons, that could be whats up with Soma's parents

^ Nah, it's just something the non-Japanese versions didn't explain, even though it didn't quite make sense.  Well, it could make sense, but being childhood friends with a girl from another country that plays a roll in the story deserves an explanation.

In conclusion:
Soma's not white.
