There's no real point for that. The maps never changed since sotn, with exception of colors. If he just wanted it to try making his own maps, even a sotn one would be enough.

As far as i remember each map square's 4x4 in size, but covers only top and left wall, with the bottom and right belonging to the other squares. It uses some specific algorithm to also uncover the wall from the missing sides without actually showing the map on the other side of the wall, just like there's one to cover up the secret passage doorways until they're actually located.
