Azumangah Daioh is great viewing, without Osaka though, she's the glue that really holds the show together.
I just bought a factory wrapped version of "Gundam Wing: The Complete Set".
Childhood memories, HO!
I've not seen Sailor Moon Crystal yet, but I'll check it out once it has all been finished. Same deal with the re-dubbing of the original series.
Though I've heard another season is coming for Crystal, in 26 episodes they blew through the original and Death Moon sagas (original and R). Not one filler episode at all, I do miss having some filler though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z5EKYcjOVM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z5EKYcjOVM) dooby dooby doo, I'll just leave this here as we've talked about the series here. It's the trailer.
Needless to say Dragon Ball Super
Highschool of the Dead is next.
I'm finally watching Shimonetta. I admit recent anime in general disappoints me to no end, but this one seems pretty fun.

Never heard of it. Looks fun like you said though! Is it worth checking out?
Shimonetta made me LOL! It's awesome.
I'm watching a ton of Macross lately ;o
Also R.I.P. Koji Wada.
The problem I've had with the transformations is, everyone does so at once, a good 2+ minutes wasted watching them all transform that could be used for further character development.
That also really annoyed me as well Showing this full transformations of all of them just takes too much time. Maybe a partial transformation of each, or a split screen of multiple transformations at most would work better?
Wish granted, episode 3 of Crystal only had 2 of the girls transform onscreen, the others did so offscreen.
Currently rewatching Chobits with English dub. The world that human and very human-like computers living together kinda reminds me the world described in Mega Man ZX though the MMZX world is in a total war driven by some old shit piles and its purpose is to end the energy crisis and other troubles in a rather brutal way and much less daily life were shown in MMZX world
If some REALLY advanced computers like Chobits, with considerable destructive power, became stable models and mass produced by government, then it surely has the possibility to burn out some kind of wars as cruel as maverick reploids wars and cyber elf wars. Thanks goddess the designers of Chobits never let that happen; The model never get a chance to be mass produced in such a good and peaceful world... But who knows if the seed of war burns out anyway?
I've been wanting to watch Dragon Ball Super, but too hard to get episodes. Might have to just wait until the English duh comes out. I'm just over all the spoilers people are posting these days, especially on Instagram.DBSuper is great story-wise, animation-wise it could be perfect if 1/3rd of it was just drawn out sequences (I understand this is to keep pace with the manga, but damn, I hope the US version can edit roughly 2 episodes into one). on the bright side, DBSuper brings a fresh approach to the series constantly throwing off fan theorists with bold curve-balls making it very hard to predict.
Asset reuse is very much common for animes. In a world where super sentai can shorten their henshin, Sailor moon sticks with it's guns (even though it's basically a FMA brotherhood approach)
The split screen is best, imo.
X and RG Veda. Bishies galore~I remember seeing the motion picture of X and the original RG Veda English dub in the 90's. RG seemed ok but those voices were like putting gasoline into a whisky sour. :P

The anime version of X is better than the movie. RG Veda's anime is different from the manga. (and I'm talking about the original Japanese version)
The best version of both is still the manga.
Should I start watching Initial D or not....?

Initial D season 1 and 2 are solid. I'm not even that into cars but I thought it was great.
There is s03 which is an anime movie I believe, but I heard the newer I/D s04 looked cool but was garbage.
Thanks for the info. I found out that they have made a New Initial D set of anime movies which are abridged versions of the series if I am not mistaken. I might watch that version eventually when it's all done.
Not anime related but I just downloaded on the raw scans of the Wangan Midnight manga and that will occupy my time for now. Japanese reading challenge on technical auto stuff. /dang
Hmm up to you but I wouldn't recommend abridged versions for a show that goes into so much detail. It's a bit like Death Note with cars, I would definitely opt for series 1-2 og.
There was an abridged movie that glossed over the original first two seasons but it was incredibly vague and not recommended.
I've just finished watching the Iron Man: The Rise of Technovore movie. It's nicely done, and the CG animation gels quite nicely. It's animated by Madhouse. The voices in the dub (as I oddly felt it would 'sound' more right in English) aren't shoddy either, although as I was watching it, Technovore's VA reminded me a heck of a lot of Isaac von Kamper from Trinity Blood.
now randomly moved on to.....Cardcaptor Sakura. At first I was eh, but the first episode was really good (the getting used to being a magician and all, usually fades pretty quickly, every magical series seems to start like this, usually pretty funny bits). Hope the other 69 episodes deliver, watching the subs version as I'm not a fan of dubs.
OH! I watched that movie too in the English dub. The story is very philosophical in nature. I agree the animation is nice.
I did not watch that series faithfully from start to finish, since I was watching it on the TV in the dubbed version and schoolwork was always in the way. I am not a fan of the magical girls shows so I was ok with missing episodes. But more or less I understood the basic plot and that was good enough for me.
Lots of people got into anime thru Gundam Wing ;D
I must be the oddball because although I loved Macross I could never get into GW.
Maybe I'll try again one day.
@Ratty Tenchi Muyo is still going??!
I was always rooting for him to eventually bang Ryoko (no pun intended)
Some of the best music I've heard in anime has come from Tenchi Muyo, some of the tracks' feel from Darker than Black also remind me of Tenchi's.
I finally finished Gurren Lagann. I'd watched the first half sometime last September and hadn't touched it since, but a couple days ago I finished eleven episodes in one day. Super damn good and addicting. Hiroyuki Imaishi has become one of my favorite anime directors; I like how his shows are constantly moving, as opposed to long spans of characters just talking, and the animation is always far out there. I remember watching Dead Leaves a long time ago and being amazed by how expressive the drawings are; I'd say to some extent, there's probably an influence from American cartoons like old Looney Tunes and Ren & Stimpy, something the director plays up even more in Panty & Stocking with its strong similarity in drawing style to shows like Powerpuff Girls. No shortage of interesting story concepts either, even if story isn't exactly the primary focus in most of his shows, although Gurren Lagann is easily the most in-depth and character-driven.
Next I'll watch the GL movies. I don't dig series recap movies where the majority of the footage is taken from the series but whatever. Looking back, I guess I gotta hand it to the Escaflowne movie for at least supplying 100% new animation, even if it's still a condensed series recap.
Awesome, I LOVED Escaflowne (the TV series, at least, I didn't like the movie as much). You're in for a treat :D
Just when I thought that SB69 couldn't get any weirder.... then episode 2 of SB69# happened. I loved the BVL song used in the opening scene of episode 1. It's so far looking interesting for sure.
I miss the darker 90's anime like Hokuto no Ken, Sukeban Deka and Demon Century: Suikoden.
I've noticed that this generation's anime seems a lot lighter in general.
I'm currently rewatching Trinity Blood, along with Show By Rock!!# (SB69 season 2). I really like the mix of good music, and random fun insanity in SB69, something I'm not normally one for, but something about it got me hooked. That said, I am still mostly watching for ShingancrimsonZ rather than Plasmagica, the main band. With Trinity Blood, I've been watching the dub as it's available, just to take the strain off my eyes a bit atm.
Well at least you're watching it for the 2nd main band (Shingancrimsonz). I'm watching it for the minor shiny ones - Trichronika and Arcareafact, well, they both have a connection with SCZ... They should make another season just focusing on the boy bands. ;D
Just finished Cromartie High School recently. Good times 8)
Just started watching DragonBall Super. Didn't realize Funimation lets you stream them for free...is there a limit to how much you can watch? I'm only 2 episodes in.

Outside of that, I haven't really watched anything since Berserk ended, aside from Sengoku BASARA: End of Judgment.
Anyone got any recommendations? I'm usually more into the action-packed anime. Doesn't necessarily need to be Dragon Ball Z fast-paced or Sengoku BASARA over-the-top, just something filled with action in general. Preferably with a halfway decent plot and characters to back it up? lol
Ever watched BLEACH?
I've returned to the original Sailor Moon. I wasn't able to properly binge watch it as the first ten or so episodes were very poor quality, but it looks like it's improved this last episode.
I#m currently looking forward to the now announced tv adaptation of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card arc, which has a load of the original cast returning, which is awesome.
I really hope that the Clear Card arc adapation doesn't do what the Sailor Moon remake does and hop and skip through the plot and not give time for character building. Fingers crossed that they keep true to the original series and let it breathe. I've just today finished the first season of the original Sailor Moon, and it's just leagues better than the first season of Crystal because it lets you see the characters become friends and get to know each other more.
Agreed, re: Sailor Moon. It really does suffer for it, in things like having the masked ball episode happen so early on, Tuxedo Mask moving in to kiss Sailor Moon makes him come across as a bit of a creep, especially as Usagi's more properly asleep rather than in a tipsy doze as she is in the original. I'm very glad all in all that I've watched seasons 1-3 of Crystal first, then gone to watch the superior original series. There are a few bits from Crystal that I like better, such as the animation, and I really liked the small touch of making Nephrite, Zoisite, Jadeite, and Kunzite originally Endymion's commanders (although the romance with the Sailor Senshi aspect wasn't needed). I'm also very glad that Crystal left out the awful Doom Tree arc. It had some interesting ideas, but was very poorly executed. If memory serves me right, the Demon Tree arc was done to give the creator time to write the next arc in, she originally didn't get that far in the manga, so that part was put in to give her some time to create the next piece of the story.
Agreed. It was such an amazing experience to watch through the series. Enjoyed lots of plot in it
some nice 2D-looking-3D titties.
My tired but hopeful eyes read it as such.Hey, man, look no further than Expelled from Paradise (which happens to be genius) and Arpeggio of Blue Steel for those. :p
OMG the Little Witch Academia tv series is out!
Last week I finished The Perfect Anime for the first time: Cowboy Bebop.
Really. It was a tremendous letdown when I first saw it, but as I came to better understand Anno's repertoire in the years since, I've warmed up to it. The dub helped shed some light on the story, too, which is major since I'm all-subs all the time.
What did you enjoy about 3.33?
Not having made much time for anime, I've been following DB Super.
Currently rewatching all anime before tackling a new one. Right now, it's Nichijou. Good, good shit~
Watching Initial D now. Can't snap out of Eurobeat...
Everyone who watches Initial D will get stuck on eurobeat.
I can't stop but to imagine delivering Tofu in a Trueno listening to Eurobeat, driving Japanese mountain's hairpins at 100kmh.
Watched that about a year or two ago, wanted it to go longer than 81 or 82 episodes.
It's so sad that a second season will never happen. It was really funny.
DB Super.. Really interesting thatYeah... #themotherfuckersdontknowhowtoact(click to show/hide)
I'm unsure if I like this arc, they're introducing more Saiyans who seem to be popping their SSJ cherries like M&M's.. What's strange is that they're taking ideas directly from material which hardcore fans have always maintained as non-canon ()(click to show/hide)
Um yeah, about non-canon stuff--I've generally found that most people really don't know or care to know the difference for this series.
It's generally all a big rehash IMHO. Which makes me wonder why it is that I am still watching the series sometimes...It's probably more for the good animation and fight scenes when they exhibit themselves, the story is as usual predictable and non-climatic since you always know who is going to end up on top...
They've had a few chances in Super and the new movies to shake up the stale old formula, and missed those opportunities since they were in a sense starting from scratch. For example, a lot of people really think Vegeta should have been the hero in the last flick...instead, it's more of the same ol'...
I actually really liked the Zamasu arc. Now I get the feeling that everything is out the window and they're just writing alove letter to all variety of fans with this Broly copied universe. It kind of pisses me off that they can't just come up with something more original.
Not bad, no. Just predictable. There were some nice nods to the past with trying to seal him away, but these sudden , inexplicable leaps in power that make everyone (Trunks, Picollo, Roshi, etc...) able to to stand at levels that are equal to SS Gods is ridiculous...As is the "everyone-makes-a-miraculous-leap-in-ability-just-one-day-from-the-tournament-of-power". BS. At least have everyone train in the room of spirit of time or something like Vegeta and blow their way out every time. Yes, it's old, but at least it makes logical sense...(click to show/hide)
This new arc just seems to me that SSJB is being purposely powered down to shoehorn old characters in, which annoys me because it is what "Resurrection F" did so well in order to avoid. I think this can be explained by SSJB being able to be surpressed lower than a normal SSJ, but fighters who don't use God Ki should be losing and not able to sense Goku or Vegeta's movements. This element of God Ki seems to have been retconned to allow the story to progress. This is shown by Goku having to use SSJB Kaioken to one shot New Mystic Gohan.
Maybe the manga is different but it has been badly explained I the anime.
Negima!? Magister Negi Magi currently, 2 episodes in, not as bad as someone told me it was. Basically a Shaft Studios reboot of a series 1 year prior, but with the Shaft spin on it, though for a comedy, it has a lot of more darker moments that are not comedy, but it's usually broken by something silly happening.
After this I might watch the original, though the original isn't comedy.
Just finished up the second season of the Berserk TV series. Such bad animation...;_;
Watching Shimoneta...I liked the overall concept of it from the start, but I kind of got a "why am I watching this?" feeling from it at first (okay, I'm watching it because I'm a pervert. There.). But it's seemed to really pick up after the first few episodes. You watch, no think, anime funny hehehe (I enjoyed it a couple years back).
Close to wrapping up some unfinished business from 2003; at the tenth episode of Serial Experiments Lain, a show more relevant now than ever...? '.'
Took a weeks break from watching anime, OK 2 weeks. 8 episodes into Sgt Frog, and the damned thing is dull as plain bread. And I still have 380 episodes to go. :-\
I quit watching Sgt Frog after episode 10. I will admire your dedication if you finish it.
After a false start several weeks back I'm moving through Re:Zero at a steady clip. It's fun times and I'm finally beginning to understand those "Stereo Maids" that keep crossing my path in cons and cyberspace.
Also, funny how almost everybody in this anime wears glasses. Alucard, Integra, Anderson, Walter, the Major, Luke Valentine... It appears that the creators really like how glass shines in a dim light. Otherwise, everybody's vision in that world is awful.
More random thoughts while watching Hellsing Ultimate:
Amusing how Integra keeps being referred to as "Sir" Integra; is this some sort of a Japanese misunderstanding of how English honorary titles work or a joke at Integra's masculine personality? Because last time I checked, if she's a woman, she should be Lady Integra.
It's summertime, and that means I'm back to watching Azumanga Daioh! The Animation. It's tradition, and I have watched it every summer since it came to the USA. It hasn't aged a damn day.
I get bored of the silence in my "man cave" (I use quotes because I have a shelf full of Hello!Kitty plushes and stuff behind me),
Photo of the plushies please!
I sat down and watched The Day of sigma anime short for the MMX legacy collection. While it was okay the whole scene with an ailing Dr. Cain made absolutely no sense whatsoever. We first see Dr. Cain in X2 and once more in X3 and he is not suffering from deteriorating health nor was he plugged up to a life support machine. But he was otherwise in the day of sigma which talks place before the first MMX game. I don't know what the hell Capcom was thinking by doing that.
Off-camera (well behind it) is Magic Knight Rayearth scroll, Evangelion scroll, and my manga shelf. In my closet is a go board and some Magic cards. On my desk are books by Heinlein (I haven't read most of them, I went on a shopping spree after reading a couple of his books lol), Tolkien, Doug Adams, Lovecraft, and Crichton, along with some of my old college books that I kept around, and my anime DVDs (small collection). And a picture of Winona Ryder that my fiance bought me.... It was sweet, but very weird.
Cool! I love Rayearth! the only things I have for that show are some mangas and an artbook.
Some people have made figurines, but I don't know if they're official or just fanart; I didn't look into it, just did a quick Google search. They did have a Gameboy Advance game which was essentially Megaman.EXE+Dance Dance Revolution. It was pretty simple but cute and novel.
I'm watching OPM S2 as well. I wonder what the delay was all about...
Well, Sailor Moon has had all 5 seasons redubbed, something far more accurate than the original, and the original never got to season 5.
Shokugeki no Soma Fifth Plate!
Also been getting lots of recommendations for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, might start watching that soon.
I’m a big fan of this anime, I’ve seen the whole thing. I haven’t finished the manga though.
Surprised the twittards haven't discovered it yet
Watched the new Bastard on Netflix. Really liked it up until the last 5 episodes or so, as it just got tedious, and they introduced some wonky CGI animation, and I say fuck that shit completely. Looking forward to season 2, though. Surprised the twittards haven't discovered it yet, because hoo boy does this have a lot of questionable content, and I'm here for it.
