Title: Chester Bennington, Linkin Park Singer, dead by suicide
Post by: Lumi Kløvstad on July 20, 2017, 03:21:05 PM
Well, 2017 is no 2016 at least, but it still can hurt us, it seems. (http://www.tmz.com/2017/07/20/linkin-park-singer-chester-bennington-dead-commits-suicide/)

I'm still alive because of this man -- his music helped me externalize my trauma so it didn't eat me up from the inside out. A shame I couldn't have returned the favor. Later, other singers helped fill that gap, but Chester was the very first in that line -- and I hope he's the last to die by suicide. I know that I'll likely live long enough to watch Marilyn Manson, Amy Lee, Tarja Turunen, and others get old and pass on, but seriously... I don't want to see another suicide.

Especially because these singers all helped me avoid that fate for such a long time.

Please, gods above, let this be the last suicide.

Chester was a great singer and seemed like he was a good person. He never made an ass of himself or acted like a dick. I never suspected in a million years that he was suffering.

While his music wasn't prolific to me, it was still good stuff and I will miss him.

My heart is aching for his 6 children. What a horrible thing for kids to have to go through. ????

Argh, terrible news. What a tragedy. I wasn't the biggest fan of their music, but he seems like a good man.

I wonder if this is the price of fame, or decline of fame... I don't know, but I suppose it takes a toll to be in a band as big as Linkin Park.

EDIT: Oh, just read that he long dealt with depression, especially following Chris Cornell's suicide.

Never did get into the bands of the 90's as the music didn't have the same spark as the bands from previous decades. Nonetheless this is another well-known artist that inspired those youths born into the 90's the world lost to suicide. And in the end I think it's the people and his fans that he helped through his music end up suffering because of his loss. Cancer has a similar effect. It's not what it does to you, but to the people around you. But I guess we shouldn't be so surprised since many talented artist suffer in silence, and we don't hear about it until the unthinkable happens. You would think that they would be able to work through their issues through their crafts. But unfortunately that's not always the case.
