So apparently this collection is getting a physical release, with all sorts of merchandise included. This will be the first time I’ve purchased a Castlevania game in over 10 years!

Pre-orders end this Sunday (the 13th) and although typically I’m not a fan of CV products not officially released by Konami, this Limited Run package caught my eye for some reason. Don’t know why. The standard edition will be the typical price $34.99 USD while the deluxe edition with all the additional goodies will set you back $200! The standard will ship in February while the deluxe won’t land until July unfortunately

My only gripe is that, they definitely should’ve included Adventure ReBirth (which is still inaccessible, legally) and a proper release of Grimoire of Souls, which I technically own but I dislike playing games on my phone.

Anyone else plan on getting? or will I be the only one lol

Contra; Metal Gear Solid almost made it in.

Aw, that would've been fun.  ;D Wait, is ParoVadius something you did? This sounds like something more true to the whimsy crossover spirit of Wai Wai World than the serious one I have in mind.

1988 wai wai world

I wouldn't have minded a third WWW before the Pachislot era ngl. Then again there's Otomedius.

Wasn’t there an entire village full of Belmont relatives in OoE

If I recall that was a point of contention here back in 2008, a lot of fans were saying how it was “unrealistic” that a gang of Belmonts just so happen to be living amongst each other

They're distant relatives, not full on descendants. And the game explains they gathered in the same place because "it's the land where Dracula sleeps". Their blood seeks to crush Dracula, and it eventually leads to Shanoa doing exactly that. It's a literal miracle, not an "unrealistic coincidence".

There was some of this going on in the ParoVadius worldview, though it was grounded in what I was most familiar with: CastleVania, Gradius/Nemesis, Parodius, TwinBee, Contra; Metal Gear Solid almost made it in.

No less realistic than Juste, Maxime and Lydie sharing aesthetic parallels with Leon, Mathias and Sara.

I recall vaguely back in the day Shiroi Kumori and/ or Nagumo noting the translation in Japanese for the Wygol Villagers being “distant relatives” rather than all directly descended. This would make sense if it was the descendants of extended family members, given it’s unlikely Richter had 13 descendants himself.
It’s also worth noting that the journalist Belmont, Marcel looks similar enough to Richter(perhaps a direct relation here) and Daniela specifically mentions tales her grandfather and her being a vampire hunter(presumably she is not the direct branch of Richter’s bloodline)…
Odds while improbable =/= impossible. There needed to be a way to incorporate the Belmonts, in a more clever way than was done previously in PoR, imo. Don’t get me wrong, the Morris bloodline added some thing with self-sacrifice element and the Richter fight was killer, but by now Richter has to be one of the most featured, playable Belmonts . (Playable Richter/ Maria should have been John Morris/ Wind instead.)

I'd be okay if moving forward they forgot anything after SotN happened. Or just forgot about having a consistent timeline in general. IGA's timeline is far too rigid and cares too much for sacrificing gameplay and characters to connect inconsequential story elements. In my mind the Belmonts had been fighting Dracula, or incarnations of him, since time immemorial. There should be an infinitely possible number of Castlevania stories, instead of like 20. Dracula only reigns for 1000 years tops? That's BS.
I honestly feel like the timeline is one of the reasons why Konami seems to be approaching a new Castlevania with more caution than like any of their other series. Look at what happened the last time they tried to go against it (LoS)

It's been said that Adi Shankar's Devil May Cry series might cross over with his previous work on Castlevania. But if CV was to share space with other fictional works, shouldn't it be with other Konami IPs?

So I pondered a shared universe for the company's otherwise unconnected games. A "Konamiverse" if you will. But unlike, say, Capcom 's SFU or Koei-Tecmo's "Ninjaverse", this Konamiverse would be a non-game setting, like a comic book or animated work. It'd take the basic premise of each game series and put them all in the same world (or universe, to include works set in different time periods or other worlds entirely). You could start with major established series like Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill to set this Konamiverse's framework. Then you could work your way down to the likes of Bloody Roar, Getsu Fuuma Den, Rush N' Attack, and Lethal Enforcers to the obscure or outright forgotten like Nanobreaker, Arumana no Kiseki, Kensei: Sacred Fist, Jackal, and more.

And then... that's it really. Various Konami IPs quietly co-existing in the same fictional space, occasionally crossing over with or at least referencing each other. No massive Avengers-style teamups as is so often the case in shared universes, though I've no doubt someone in charge of a Konamiverse will certainly try.
