Oh dear.
Well, this can't possibly be bad - can't be worse than George Clooney donning the cape and utility belt, aye? :-\

I almost went full nerdragegasmic, but then zen kicked in. OMMMMM
Think positive. There's always the next reboot. Ben Affleck might lose his leg before shooting starts or something.
-
As someone who isn't exactly that much familiar with the hollywood business, may I ask just what's wrong with him if he were to be cast as Batman?
-
I don't see anything wrong with that. The article said that they will have a new definition for the character of Batman. I just hope it would deliver well on screen.
IIRC, Mark Ruffalo has a lot of naysayers when he was casted in The Avengers, but in the end, he was well received.
-
He can't be any worse than Kilmer or Bale's gargling gravel voice.
-
Kilmer's acting was actually pretty decent. It's the bat nipples, the neon colors and everything else that ruined Forever. Not Kilmer.
-
At first I laughed and ask "Why god why!?" when I heard the news. Then I settled down and remembered how everyone laughed at the thought of Heath Ledger as The Joker and haters were more or less silenced. Maybe he'll surprise us so im gonna wait and see if Snyder made the right call.
Besides you can't do worse than Clooney.
-
I was waiting for people to make the comparison to Ledger. And I think that is partly what they're counting on. They're replicating bits of what Nolan did, starting with the casting.
To me, at least, it makes no difference. I wouldn't touch Affleck with a ten foot pole.
-
Dammit Bale, just do it! Why doesn't anything ever go as expected on this Versus films? This is a bigger disappointment than when I found out that Kane Hodder was not reprising the mask in that Jason Vs. Freddy flick. Now, even though I liked the film imagined if they got the casting right like what the fans wanted. I am thinking it's going to be the same for the Superman Vs. Batman movie now as well, a good movie that would of been an EPIC movie!
-
This is... weird. It all depends of the costume, how well it hides or adapts the ultra recognizable Affleck chin. Bale was unrecognizable beneath his cowl.
-

they haven't silenced me yet and my bro is with me on this. The actor Heath Ledger, I don't have a problem with. It's just the way the Joker character was portrayed and how he looked. There was only two real points to where we see the Joker's humor on camera. Other then that he's just a regular psychopathic killer with a knife; Borrrrring! And as for his make-up job, think of a colorized of The Crow and if you can't, then turn down the hue on your TV till the image goes black and white. Then you'll see it. It wasn't nearly as convincing as Tim Berton's interpretation and the Joker's humor was all there too. Christopher Nolan wanted to do his own thing with the Joker character, but I feel he messed up big-time and ruined what could have been a stellar movie. I notice that this trend happens a lot nowadays with many directors wanting to do their own thing, but not paying proper attention on how the rest of the world views it, and that's where they make their mistakes. And don't even get me started on his personal interpretation of Bane. That's NOT Bane.
-
What X said. Ledgejoker is far from the best a live action version Joker could be. And agree on pretty much all about Nolan in general.
Jackjoker was just Jack Nicholson dressed as a clown. But at least he was funny.

So when I heard what I thought was a joke/rumor that the guy who couldn't even carry a Daredevil movie 10 years ago might be cast as Batman in the upcoming Superman crossover, my immediate reaction was "Ha, good one." But then
http://movies.yahoo.com/news/squash-those-petitions-why-ben-affleck-batman-good-203602584.html (http://movies.yahoo.com/news/squash-those-petitions-why-ben-affleck-batman-good-203602584.html)
Oh wait you're serious? Let me laugh even harder!
I can see him as Wayne's rich playboy jackass persona, but I'll be really surprised if he can pull off the brooding angst effectively. Then again they could make it "The Caped Crusader" Batman instead of "The Dark Knight" Batman and go with Affleck's usual goofy screen presence. But if you're going to have a more lighthearted character in your Superman/Batman movie, shouldn't that more obviously be Superman if not both of them?
PS - Of course there is always the possibility he'll blow us all away. Micheal Keaton was known as a comedy actor for movies like "Mr. Mom" (and much more menacingly "Beetlejuice") before he became the Batman for an entire generation. But judging by BA's underwhelming Daredevil I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Wow absolutely, I looked, dunno how I missed that one! Should have used the search function properly instead of scanning. Guess I'm just THAT far behind the loop on this lol. Been a lot of drama around me lately. Thanks for letting me know!
-
Well, its on the first page so search isnt even needed xD
But its okay man, be better.

Yeah I know it's alright, I'm just pretty distracted as of today and the last few days so my quick visual scan wasn't as good. But thanks :) I was thinking partly of like "I should have used ctrl+f" though lol.
-
But, but...he did Argo! He can do anything!
...or something.
(I wondered what WB would do with Batman after Nolan was done. Guess we know now. Yikes.)
-
I didn't like Bale as Batman. He was great as Bruce Wayne, but not as Batman. "They're the same person!" Tell that to Bale and Nolan. Who started the whole growling voice thing anyway? Adam West was Bruce AND Batsy, not one then the other. If anything, he should just talk in a lower voice. Or if he's got all this money, why doesn't he just insert a voice modulator in his cowl? That would make more sense then going GWAR every time he suits up.
-
I still think out of any film or television actor, Kevin Conroy did the best job (pre-Gotham Knights). They really had the right idea on that show where Batman is Bruce Wayne and that brooding, cold, and calculated nature is just how he is. When he's Bruce Wayne, it's an act, and his voice has a more upbeat tone. Every other movie or show seems to do it the opposite way—where Bruce is Bruce but when he has the Batman suit on, he has to use some stupid method to disguise his voice. Bale is probably the worst offender with his ridiculous gravel voice.
Ben Affleck is a good director, but even in Argo his acting was wooden and just not very interesting. I can't see him playing Batman because he's a bit of a powderpuff.

Francis ought to be the next Batman, by the way.

My pick would be someone relatively unknown and about Cavill's age (thought that's secondary). To hell with the established glamour marionettes. They're not hungry anymore. They don't have enough at stake. Even if Affleck would do an ok job as Batman (he won't), he can count on a cushy future. With a newcomer, you can bet he would give his everything to get every detail right.
Get someone who can act, looks like Bruce Wayne, has learned the essentials of Batman's character history and, if possible, is himself a Batman fanatic.

That is difficult. Hollywood simple adores big names. The director must back up the said newcomer to the producer and hope that the producers agree. A lot of aspiring young actors don't get to make it to Hollywood because of that problem even if they are really good.
-
Most of the times, yes. But sometimes things happen. Like with Cavill.

He should thank his lucky stars, since that is a rare occurrence.
-
Yeah, but not just luck. He actively pursued the role.
-
Maybe instead of Ben Affleck to play Batman, why not the Aflac duck instead.

This is very much the case. In that retrospective, the giant machination known as Hollywood needs to fall in order for new actors with undiscovered, natural talent to be given the chance they deserve.

I would just drag out Adam West to play Batman again, who cares if he's like 80.
-
From a recent issue of Daredevil. Not a shop.

Either Marvel's got spies in WB or Mark Waid's a fricking prophet.

I'd get him for Bruce Wayne in a Dark Knight Returns adaptation. Not even joking.
-
Adam West is still my favorite Batman. He's just so fun. Kilmer (and "Batman Forever" in general) is very underrated by association with the movie that came after his. I actually think "Forever" is a better Batman movie than "Returns", which was just a Tim Burton movie that begrudgingly had re-interpretations of Batman characters. Of course at the time most of us hadn't realized how much of a one-trick pony Burton is. The only Batman I really dislike, and this is including animation/radio/the astoundingly racist old serials, is Clooney. Because he's so smug and punchable while he phones-in the bad dialog.
-
Here's the one decent Clooney Batman moment (and even that is because of Alfred/Michael Gough):
Batman & Robin [Best Scene] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBJ93zhz2Cg#)
-
My fav out of the whole four movies is the first Tim Burton film. Micheal Keaton did a good job at being Batman and he didn't need to put in any real effort into Batman's voice cause he naturally sounds that deep. Tim Burton's second movie is where it went downhill and didn't stop :P
-
I'm pretty iffy about this one. It's nothing but the voice that worries me. I dunno.
-
yiffy?! O.o
-
Iffy, as in indecisive. If a,b,c then yes. If x,y,z then no. If j,f,k, then what the fuck?
-
And if 7,8,9, run for your lives because he's coming for you next.
-
And if 7,8,9, run for your lives because he's coming for you next.
If you are 10. Hehehe. :)
-
Oh so thats it, iffy is a derivative from if, now I understood.
-
So Ben Affleck parents were killed by a bandit ?
Wow ,
I didn't know he actually was batman :o

Turns out Rifftrax predicted this shocking development. Not once, but twice (2:13 and 3:08).
