I thought Destiny's Warlocks looked familiar...

So I was playing Destiny for ages and noticed that Warlock costume design was somewhat... iffy.

What with the trench coats and the arm bands.

So I made a slightly off-color visual joke to highlight this. Only in year two did I finally work up the courage to do so.

Dunno why it needed any courage. So far nobody has paid it any attention whatsoever.

So far, only a few have noticed it.

His name is oberst Helmut Steinman and he is simply better than those Fallen degenerate scum -- it's all in his bloodline, you see. He will bring order to the Fatherland-- I mean Earth and spread his ethnic superiority at muzzle velocity. May the coming of the Guardians herald the true Übermensch that will lead the world into a new thousand year golden age!

Heil the Traveler, and its chosen führer, der Speaker!

...just in case it wasn't at all obvious what his costume looks like.
Seriously Bungie. I'm gonna file this costume design under "did not think that one through."
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

He looks like Albert Wesker without the shades.

Honestly, the Nazi-esque design for Warlocks and the Boba Fett-esque design for Hunters suddenly makes Fridge Sense now that I consider the popular theory that the Traveler and the Guardians are actually Villain Protagonists.

Furthermore, The Taken King has done little to mitigate the theory.

I really hope the sequel hammers this into the actual plot.
