Heya all! As per the "this thread-type belongs in this sub-forum" rules, and seeing there is no other similar thread (unless I'm as blind as Mr. Magoo), I decided to make one. I recently went on a portable CV rampage lately, and have been spacing my "Richter mode" play-throughs apart so I don't have a crystal-clear memory of each game's map when I do its "Richter mode".
This sparked a question in me, about which one was my favorite. Being that CVIII had such a large impact on me, I'm almost tempted to say DoS's Julius mode, especially since it doesn't force you to grind for souls or doodle in some silly pattern and most importantly offers a terrific throwback to having a Belnades and Alucard (except for poor Grant and/or Hammer. Damn you Konami!!!). Then again, Richter had some kick-ass special attacks to a boy in 6th grade (when I first played it), and blue just happens to be my favorite color. And yet, I like Albus' mode, since OoE on hard is probably the most challenging Metroidvania.
So, how 'bout it? Which Richter-mode best tickles your fancy?

Dawn of Sorrow's three character Julius Mode was by far the most fun for me.
-
Definitely DoS Julius Mode. I think it was a huge mistake to cut Hammer from it but even without him it is an awesome mode.
-
DOS Julius mode will forever be the best hands down.

I liked the SotN Richter playable mode. It was the first and most memorable. The only thing I didn't like about it was that Richter's Vampirekiller was too short. It looked awesome and the animations were slick, but it was just too short. PoR had one advantage over that as the whip was longer and SotN Richter should've had that at the beginning. Ah well, that's what fan-made projects are for :)

Forgot Joachim Mode and Trevor Belmont mode.
-
I went with DoS Julius mode but almost went with AoS Julius mode. I think it was the new final bosses that made me in DoS Julius mode that made me pick it.

I really like Joachim Mode. I do wish his move-set had been a little more diverse though.

Aw shit I knew there had to be some I missed. Being that I never played CoD I can see why I didn't know about Trevor and God knows when the last time I played LoI was.
EDIT: Ok I added them to the poll. I don't really have any special quote with them, since I never played CoD and I can't remember much about Joachim other than his last name was Armstair or something like that and he had the spinning swords.

OLD AXE ARMOR! ;D
-
It has, and always will be, about Trevor and that AWESOME coat of his.
-
I had to go with Trevor because I didn't enjoy Curse of Darkness much otherwise.
...Why can't I vote for Hugh Baldwin?

Ain't that the mother-fuckin' truth. They take the time to animate him, give him a slightly unique sprite, give him a move-list, and DON'T make him a playable alternate character. Instead, Nathan gets some pretty generic stat swaps based on a meta.
I was SO happy Serio's Castlevania fighter made Hugh playable. I was about damn time.

Gameplay-wise I'm actually more inclined to say Albus mode. Between the rapid-firing gun and "you can't hit me!", the flaming tornado kick was the one that sealed the deal.
-
Joachim Armster is a splendid character in his own right and I like him the most. Albus gets second place though.
-
SOTN Richter, hands down!!!
Slide, Kick, Tackle, Repeat.... whats not to like about someone that destroys bosses 5x's faster than Adrian?
Dont need no meat!
-
Joachim was great but I loved the CV3 homage of DoS.
-
I just love Stella and Loretta sisters in Portrait of Ruin!
If not for this, I would have voted Richter/Maria from PoR, but esentially I think all extra modes are really fun and challenging, so they were all great!

While not my favorite, I have to admit, I really did enjoy Sisters mode. For some reason it brought back memories of Panzer Dragoon a bit.
I had to go with Richter/Maria mode, myself. Strangely enough, I think my favorite alternate mode was actually Thief mode in CotM.
-
All of these modes give me warm fuzzies thinking about them. I'm gonna go with Julius/Alucard/Yoko mode though. But special nods to Joachim Mode and Richter/Maria mode. If you're looking for completion, you could always add Maria's SotN modes or Pumpkin mode.
-
DoS Julius mode was the most involved, so I'd go with that.
A close second would be Albus because "YOU CAN'T HIT ME HIT ME YOU CAN'T HIT ME YOU CAN'T HIT ME YOU CAN'T HIT ME"
As an aside, I kinda want MS to fit one of these into MoF. I'd enjoy some other obscure Konami character like Sparkster.

I enjoyed Henry mode quite a bit but does he count?
and the reason why i bought Curse of darkness was to play as trevor.
Also juste is quite a weakling compared to Simon but does Simon count as a richter mode?
