It really explains why there is more sexism in Japan than some other places in the world, it poisons its culture that it even affects a lot of games, manga, anime, relationships, society, and other things in general.

and in things like manga, anime and games, it can also be seen with how roles are chosen and how characters of either gender are represented and tiered.
just look at games like Mario, Zelda, FFXV, and tons of other games place one gender above the other. and then compare them to games like The Elder Scrolls Skryim, Jade Empire, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and other games are designed. whether they have a story or not, are single player or multiplayer,
there are more western developers open to gender quality than most Japanese developers.
and a lot of this is due to how Japan perceives women, how japanese males perceive women, and how japanese females are pressured to see themselves.
it's only when some Japanese companies like Game Freak, for example, think outside the box, grow out of their national culture's sexist stigma, and make their products for both males and females, and generally glorify both equally, at least in the games, their anime is still somewhat sexist, but overall, it's an ongoing problem that Japan is having more so than other regions.
like look at even Europe, they have some developers that honor and value both genders equally, and develop their games with both genders in mind.
Exclusively favoring either gender and excluding either gender (in leading role, representation, relevance, respect, and glorification) is bad to the industries, society and bad to their own business and mind as well.

what

oh no, come on!
this is real? please let this be a joke

You mentioned Zelda
Want me to talk about Breath of the Wild?

No mention of Metroid, potentially one of the OST well known female leads.
No mention of OOE or Bloodstained, both Castlevania, both by Iga.
No mention that FFXIII series was centred around two female protagonists and got a trilogy, which occupied main consoles until the next true successor (XV).
For the record, The Legend of ZELDA is named as such after a woman, despite the player using Link, and there has been a Linkel introduced.
Not to mention numerous pop culture series across different media (gaming, anime, etc) which stem from Japan:
•Valis
•Armytage (which was famous across both Eastern and Western societies in the 90's prior to the emergence of the Internet)
•Battle Angel Alita
•Sailor Moon (one of the most famous series across east and west, ever)
•Ghost in the Shell (one of the most famous series across east and west, ever)
•95% of Miyazaki animated films (which are some of the world's most famous)
Saying the female gender is not as considered - as a broad statement - is pure bullshit.
Video games and associated pop culture such as anime are some of the most considerate. Mario fucking Odyssey re-introduced Pauline!
Btw no spoilers for Mario or Zelda BOTW please :)

Not to mention games like Magical Doropie, Salamander (in Japan, the pilot of the Vic Viper is female), and Arkista's Ring from the days of the NES, whose lead protagonists happen to be female as well. I'm sensing a theme with the topic creator, and I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Yes we can.
