I'm using Google's Blogger. It has nice and simple templates for creating and editing your blog posts. You can also see the viewing statistics of those posts.

I don't blog but I read blogs.
Some people write about what they are passionate about like food blogs with mouthwatering pictures and or recipes.
Others write about their everyday life kinda like a diary but open to public.
Some write social commentaries and expect a lot of debate on the comments page.
Others write stories hoping that their work gets recognized.
And finally, some just write a plethora of stuff.

Tumblr is an absolute cesspit. It's good if you're trying to find fandom resources or keep a personal repository of content, but the staff are completely inept and the people who frequent it are absolutely toxic. The only reason I haven't left is because I met some great friends through it and the wealth of content it offers.

If you want a basic blog, you could try WordPress. You have to pay for a lot of the higher-end stuff or even some extended customization, but if you're just looking for a basic place to blog, it's pretty hot right now.
