Has no one thought of using the OpenBoR Engine? You don't really need to know anything about programming to start off. Everything you need to know to get started can be learned in 1 page. http://www.caskeys.com/arc/games/openbor/wiki/index.php?title=BOR_Manual,
Wanna use more features? http://dcemulation.org/?title=OpenBORManual.
Wanna use scripts? http://www.caskeys.com/arc/games/openbor/wiki/index.php?title=Script_Introduction.
It's really easy to get started and there aren't as many limits as you've heard.
Got questions?  http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php Ask away.
You've got more than enough resources here to make something spectacular. If the biggest hurdle to making a fangame is a lack of programmers... Why not give it a try, no?

You could say the same thing about multimedia fusion 2...lol

So I am trying my hand at spriting...
I'm not that experienced yet but my current project is making a sprite for Coller, he's a character that I would have loved to see featured in a castlevania game hence me choosing him.
I think I've made a pretty good first attempt.
Here's two versions, not sure which one I like better. Can any of you experienced spriters give some feedback on areas that I can improve?

Did a small update the the sprite, made a standing animation for both with and without chainsaw:

I believe the moving of the chainsaw looks rather clunky but am not sure how to make it appear more smooth.
Tips on that are also greatly appreciated.

I think it looks weird because the chainsaw is moving, but his hand - no. And may be you need 3 frames for that moving, not only 2. Anyway, looks nice!

Thought maybe having it move slower would help. My alternative was animating the blade but there doesn't seem to be enough space for such detail.

animation V2:
Added Jump animation (it's more like a hop, Coller doesn't seem the type to jump very high imo)

That one looks much better.
What are you going to do with this Coller (if it's not a secret, of course)?

I just felt like making it to try my hand at spriting, maybe I'll try and write an engine to go with it when I'm done but we will see.

added a walk animation (gun animations are up next, then I'll find a way to deal with the saw)

So here's the shooting animation, was thinking of maybe making his machine gun for his itemcrash.
I'm still new at spriting so if you see anything weird with the animations let me know, feedback helps me improve :)

Nice! :) But may be his other hand is too big - it looks bigger than his face.

Well he is Coller.
Right now it looks a little too similar to a super-buff Julius Belmont from AoS though.
The big hand is OK 'cuz it'll probably have a chainsaw on that hand most of the time.

I don't know if this was requested before...
May i request any of you great sprite artists for a gif image of Soma's bat form from DoS?
In case you want to know why, that gif would be used for my new avatar pic here.
Thanks in advance!  :D
