Would've posted these responses earlier but had to run unexpectedly.

I've been watching a lot of Cinemassacre's Monster Madness. My favorite review James Rolfe did was of Sleepy Hollow.

Yeah it's fun to hear what James thinks of these movies. It was his review of "The Body Snatcher" some time ago that reminded me I really needed to check it out.

So I helped co-direct a Halloween horror-tribute album called DANSE MACABRE 5. It's been happening every year for the past 5 years and I was lucky enough to help with it this year. Might be why it's the largest compilation yet, but I digress.....

It's completely free and any donations go to charity. Perfect mix of arrangements and covers of horror and suspense movie and game music, including some badass Castlevania pieces.

DANSE MACABRE 5 on Bandcamp

One of the songs off the album done by Stemage of Metroid Metal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sWXrRZDdOk

That's super cool man, I'll have to check that out!

Haha thanks Plot. I actually thought this was old, didn't realise it was a few days ago.
I found it funny that James kept correcting himself throughout the video.  :P

That is so weird! I could have sworn it was "BerenSTEIN" ahh well.

Finally saw the original 1974 "Texas Chain Saw Massacre", it was good and pretty brutal for the time. But honestly most of those kids were just asking to get murdered. Wondering into someone you don't even know's house? That's a good way to get shot in real life. Leatherface was visibly confused. Rob Zombie was pretty shameless in ripping off- er, """paying homage""" to this one with "House of 1000 Corpses" & "The Devil's Rejects".

Also saw "The Phantom" (1996) which while a lighthearted super hero movie set in the 1930s is not directly related to Halloween (though the Phantom himself is a mortal man who pretends to be a ghost to scare criminals and pirates- the character's creation predates Batman) is tangentially, at least for me. Because the film is almost certainly what inspired part of my favorite wrestling match of all time. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. at Halloween Havoc 1997! Wherein Rey Mysterio Jr. (who has graduated to just "Rey Mysterio" these days) wears Luchadore cosplay of the Phantom.

Finally saw the original 1974 "Texas Chain Saw Massacre", it was good and pretty brutal for the time.

First time seeing it? In my opinion, it remains one of the most relentless and violent movies ever made. There's absolutely no gore to be seen, but the suggested violence is so painful and the terror so palpable. It ranks (in my book) among the most uncompromising horror movies, alongside John Carpenter's The Thing, Suspiria, and The Evil Dead. Horror movies don't get any better.

The spooky is upon us.

Someone should do a play through of spooky's house of jump scares and post it to youtube.

Happy Halloween everyone! :D stay safe and have a spooktacular time!

Yep was my first time seeing it. Have since since part 2 and liked it better, totally black, pure over the top 1980s gross out comedy. The original was well made but it's been imitated so much it's lost it's power for me.
