I like it. I would add some additional animatons to it. Such as the water.

So I'm trying to make a better looking animation for walking and I've made 2 versions so far, one is a 6 frame walk and the other an 8 frame (both different styles too).
Only drew rough outlines of his legs to see how the animation would look. any feedback/ suggestions?

do you plan to animate his clothing at all? at the moment both look decent, but the "test" one looks more like the traditional CV run/walk

yes, point is clothing isn't really the issue for me at the moment. I want to make sure I have a walking animation I stick to and then shade and animate the rest.

OK so I made a casual walking animation instead since that seemed to be going better.
Points I'm still trying to work on:
- hands, any tips on how to draw a pixel hand diagonally without it looking weird? said hand is 3x3 pixels at maximum size.
- is the coat animation fluid enough?
- does his shoulder move too much?

I think the problem its that the body dont move, perhaps if the body moves like for example the Hector from Jorge D Fuentes it will look better

if he dont have this i cant judge the animation, pehaps that's what makes it look weird, im not good with the sprites so this is only a opinion of a rookie

There are a few problems here. 1 is that the body doesn't move. 2 is that the head stays perfectly level and also doesn't move, and 3 is that the left pops out in one frame and it should at least be 2 frames.

In short, he looks really stiff.
The worst monsters are human.

Thank you both for the honest and useful feedback, I redid some stuff and he appears more fluid now.
Not sure what you meant by: "the left pops out in one frame."

Edit: ok sorry this turned into a wall of questions, I'll sort them in a list to make it more readable,
if anyone can help/answer/suggest any of these it's greatly appreciated.

[1]Currently using 6 frames for the animation, would 8 be better to make the walking more smooth?
or does it look smooth enough with these 6?

[2]One more question: at the moment I am using 12 colors for the entire sprite
I noticed the overlap I have at his legs when he isn't running and was wondering if I should consider
using more colors to add contrast?

[3]While I'm at it I'm looking into what weapons Coller would realistically be using if he was in a game.
A given is his chainsaw, in his art he is seen holding a gun and also a machine gun.
So I'd like to know peoples take on these:

  • Would he use the chainsaw to 'saw' into people ex: saw from top to bottom and push in (broadsword style)
or would he slice? (regular sword style) <-- not really realistic but he has monstrous strength so it could work.
  • Would he only use one gun? would he dual wield pistols rambo/tombraider style?

Thank you all for wondrous feedback it really helps me improve at what I'm doing.

First post  ;D
So, for my first post here, I figured I'd share a GIF I recently made of a recolored CV3 Trevor, made to look like Fake Trevor.
I made it just a few hours ago and I'm really proud of it.  :D
It's not as smooth as I had hoped, but trust me, there's a lot of stuff I've made that's pretty damn smooth animation-wise.  ;)
But, in the meantime, I would like some critique.  :)

It looks really good, depending on how/where you want to deploy it, it's fine.
Only thing that I could point out if you want it to be more smooth is to insert another frame during his 'step' animation while whipping.
And welcome to fanstuff section ^^
