Which version of Freddy Krueger do you prefer?  80s hilarious smartass Freddy, or reboot terrifying creeper Freddy?

The only Freddy Krueger is Robert Englund. Period.
If a man chooses, and a slave obeys, then what are you if you choose to obey?

The Johnny Carson Freddy didn't scrape his claws against the wall like he did in the original when he was serious. On a side note, I think  Jackie Earle Haley would of made a great Freddy, but terrible remake and horrible Freddy design did him in. The first 10 minutes of that movie was pure gold!

I haven't seen the remake or all of the original movies. Seems to me though Robert Englund is as integral to Freddy as, say, Bruce Campbell is to Ash or Lon Chaney Jr. is to the Wolf Man. Can't really separate the character from the actor without fundamentally changing the character itself, at which point it's an "in name only" kind of thing.

What you need to understand is that being a Freddy is an art. You can't just randomly kill teenagers. The kill needs to fit the personality of the victim, it should be ironic and preferably accompanied by sarcastic puns.

For instance, NoES 3, you have Taryn, she's a bad girl and a drug addict. Freddy knows how to treat her right.

Freddy Vs. Taryn.

Then you have the D&D kid, Will.

Freddy Krueger Vs. Wizard Master ( A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors)

And this is a favorite for sure. Trippy as hell.

Nightmare on Elm Street 6 - Freddy's Dead Spencer Death Scene

Those are just examples. You get the point.
"Yes, I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen. It's not available, because if you try it you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body."

I remember the Power Glove scene! Never watched any of the NoES movies, but I did see that scene.

Although I don't think it's anywhere near as trippy as the Twilight Zone story about the spoiled kid with special powers; now that was a trippy scene.

Then you have the D&D kid, Will.

Why would a kid in the 80s be into D&D?

Didn't he ever see Mazes and Monsters?
